Oxidative stress has been associated with adverse neonatal outcomes, and many carotenoids, including lycopene, potentially have antioxidant properties. The objective of this analysis was to explore the associations between serum lycopene concentrations, including lycopene isomers, and maternal-newborn outcomes. BACKGROUND: The aim of the present EURECCA international comparison is to compare adjuvant chemotherapy and relative survival of patients with stage II colon cancer between European countries.METHODS: Population-based national cohort data (2004-2009) from the Netherlands (NL), Denmark (DK), Sweden (SE), England (ENG), Ireland (IE), and Belgium (BE) were obtained, as well as single-centre data from Lithuania. Monosomy 7 [-7] and/or partial loss of chromosome 7 [del(7q)] are associated with poor and intermediate prognosis, respectively, in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), but somatic mutations may also play a key complementary role. We analyzed the impact on the outcomes of deep targeted mutational screening in 280 MDS patients with -7/del(7q) as isolated cytogenetic abnormality (86 with del(7q) and 194 with -7). Perivascular epithelioid cell tumors (PEComas) are infrequent neoplasms with peculiar myomelanocytic differentiation. The aggressive abdominopelvic variant is rare, with only a small number of published cases. We present an additional case of this unusual variant, which showed an aggressive histologic and clinical behavior with multiple liver metastases and resistance to several therapies. We also discuss the histological and immunohistochemical profiles as well as the differential diagnosis.

Current treatments available for GBM entails surgical resection followed by temozolomide chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy, which are associated with multidrug resistance and severe side effects. While this treatment could yield good results, in almost all cases, patients suffer from relapse, which leads to reduced survival rates.
