Purpose The purpose of this paper seeks to develop a motivation-based complementary framework for temporally dynamic user preferences to facilitate optimal timing in web personalisation. It also aims to highlight the benefits of considering user motivation when addressing issues in temporal dynamics. In this explorative study, we investigated motives of autonomous learners to participate in an online course, and how these motives are related to gameplay motivations, engagement in the course experience, and learning outcomes. The guiding premise for the study has been the idea that learning and game playing carry phenomenal similarities that could be revealed by scrutinizing motives for participating in a massive open online course that does not involve any intentionally game-like features. The purpose of the paper is to understand and measure consumer's motives as part of the complex mental structure which has as result a certain buying behavior. To achieve this goal, the authors structured the paper in two parts: the first part contains a literature review regarding the concepts of motivation and motives, while the second part tries to measure and explain several dimensions of buying motives by using a statistical analysis tool - exploratory factor analysis.

Sociālās trauksmes saistība ar alkohola lietošanas pazīmēm un motīviem

Pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt saistības starp sociālo trauksmi, alkohola lietošanas motīviem un alkohola lietošanai raksturīgajām pazīmēm. Pētījuma grupu veidoja 71 respondents, no kuriem 43 bija sievietes (61%) un 28 vīrieši (39%). Vidējais dalībnieka vecums ir 24 gadi (M=23,75, SD=4,09). Grupas dalībnieku vecums variē no 20 līdz 46 gadiem. Vīriešu vidējais vecums ir 25 gadi (M=24,7, SD=5,09), taču sieviešu vidējais vecums ir 23 gadi (M=23,12, SD=3,19). A system upgrade requires careful planning as its implications to organizational systems might be enormous. Although in IS literature the requirements and process of systems upgrade have been discussed, the timing when to upgrade and what factors guide it has been of lesser interest.
