"Since its origins, cinema has been fascinated with the subject of scientific developments. In particular, astronomy and astrophysics have played an important role in science fiction stories about space travel and exploration. Though the science has not always been accurately represented, in the last decades there has been more and more interest from the cinema industry in approaching scientists to make sure that the stories and concepts shown in films are closer to our true understanding of the universe. In this article, I will explore how cinema has portrayed astrophysical concepts throughout the decades, and how sometimes cinema has even inspired the direction of scientific research."

There is a trend in female film production in the 21st century in the context of Spain towards a type of cinema that we could classify as haptic. It is a mode of representation concerned with multisensory expression in film images. In this article, we shall study this haptic visuality in the works of four filmmakers: Isabel Coixet, Paula Ortiz, Mar Coll and Carla Simón, whose films in this century exemplify the trend. Este artículo analiza la representación de la femme fatale en Muerte de un ciclista (Juan Antonio Bardem, 1955) como un recurso sintomático de la disidencia de Bardem respecto a la dictadura franquista. Partiendo de una perspectiva interdisciplinar que considera las aportaciones de la teoría semiótica y la teoría fílmica feminista, se aplica una metodología de análisis textual que atiende tanto a la estructura narrativa del film como a los procesos de significación, visuales y sintácticos, asociados a la femme fatale. El historiador, en su tarea docente, acepta esa preponderancia de las imágenes y las integra en su tarea profesional mediante el uso de lo que denominamos documentos en soporte de vídeo (DSV). Además, el docente puede (y debe) incorporar otro tipo de fuente como es la literatura, para hacer más accesible el conocimiento histórico. International audience; The article examines how Death Proof (Tarantino, 2007) subverts both gender and genre by mixing several genres (the slasher, the car movie, the buddy movie) generally considered to be male, either at the diegetic level (e.g. the main characters) or at the level of reception (i.e. the target audience). The film's play on gender and genre, which is clearly based on the idea that film genres are gendered, is, then, enabled by the very discursivity of these norms.
