Multicomponent self-assembly holds great promise for the generation of complex and functional biomaterials with hierarchical microstructure. Here, we describe the use of supramolecular co-assembly between an elastin-like recombinamer (ELR5) and a peptide amphiphile (PA) to organize graphene oxide (GO) flakes into bioactive structures across multiple scales. Fabrication, characterization, thermal stability and nanoassemblies of novel pullulan-aspirin conjugates

Abstract Present study deals with homogeneous and one-pot synthesis of novel macromolecular prodrugs (MPDs) of aspirin onto naturally occurring hydrophilic biopolymer pullulan. Pullulan-aspirin conjugates were synthesized by using green carboxylic acid activating reagent 1,1′-carbonyldiimidazole (CDI). The aspirin was first reacted with CDI to prepare aspirin-imidazolide at RT for 24 h which in situ reacted with pre-dissolved pullulan and the reaction preceded further for 24 h at 80 °C under nitrogen. Rapid Self-Healing and Thixotropic Organogelation of Amphiphilic Oleanolic Acid–Spermine Conjugates

Natural and abundant plant triterpenoids are attractive starting materials for the synthesis of conformationally rigid and chiral building blocks for functional soft materials. Here, we report the rational design of three oleanolic acid-triazole-spermine conjugates, containing either one or two spermine units in the target molecules, using the Cu(I)-catalyzed Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction. The resulting amphiphile-like molecules 2 and 3, bearing just one spermine unit in the respective molecules, self-assemble into highly entangled fibrous networks leading to gelation at a concentration as low as 0.5% in alcoholic solvents. Knowledge of the partitioning behavior of trace elements between solid and liquid is a prerequisite for modern igneous and mantle petrology. Most of the mathematical models simulating melt generation, migration and evolution within the mantle and/or the crust require the availability of reliable solid/liquid partition coefficients for the mineral phases involved in the process. Variations of vitamin D-like reactivity in the crustacean Orchestia cavimana during the molt cycle

An investigation into vitamin D-like molecules has been performed on whole extracts of the terrestrial amphipod Orchestia cavimana, using a sensitive nonequilibrium assay employing 1,25-(OH)2 D receptor from calf thymus. Relatively large amounts of these secosteroid-like molecules were observed and they varied in concentration according to the stages of the molt cycle. The amplitude of these variations reaches a ratio of about 40 from the minimum in premolt to the intermolt sharp peak.
