Posaconazole vs Standard Azole (FLU/ITRA) Therapy for Prophylaxis of Invasive Fungal Infections (IFIs) among High-Risk Neutropenic Patients: Results …

2005

Abstract Background: Patients with severe and prolonged neutropenia are at high-risk of developing life-threatening IFIs. Despite current treatment option, IFIs are difficult to treat and frequently associated with high mortality rates. Antifungal prophylaxis has shown benefits in high-risk populations and is a standard practice in many institutions. We compared Posaconazole (POS), a new broad-spectrum triazole, vs Standard Azoles for the prevention of IFIs in patients with a new diagnosis or first relapse of acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) or myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) being treated with intensive chemotherapy. Methods: Patients in this randomized, evaluator-blinded, active controlled…

RIPHeart (Remote Ischemic Preconditioning for Heart Surgery) Study: Myocardial Dysfunction, Postoperative Neurocognitive Dysfunction, and 1 Year Foll…

2018

Background Remote ischemic preconditioning ( RIPC ) has been suggested to protect against certain forms of organ injury after cardiac surgery. Previously, we reported the main results of RIPHeart (Remote Ischemic Preconditioning for Heart Surgery) Study, a multicenter trial randomizing 1403 cardiac surgery patients receiving either RIPC or sham‐ RIPC . Methods and Results In this follow‐up paper, we present 1‐year follow‐up of the composite primary end point and its individual components (all‐cause mortality, myocardial infarction, stroke and acute renal failure), in a sub‐group of patients, intraoperative myocardial dysfunction assessed by transesophageal echocardiography and the incidenc…

Multizentrische Phase II — Studie der Arbeitsgruppe Lebermetastasen zur wöchentlichen intraarteriellen 24 h Hochdosistherapie mit 5-FU und Folinsäure…

1998

This prospective multicenter trial was performed to determine the response rate, toxicity and applicability of continuous 24 h hepatic arterial infusion of high-dose 5-FU and folinic acid. An improved response rate (60.5% in non-pretreated patients) was however associated with many systemic side-effects (340/509), mainly nausea and diarrhea. Therefore this treatment should be applied only in selected patients in specialized centers.

Tu1253 How Safe Is Sedation in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy? a Prospective Multicenter Trial: an Interim Analysis of 73,941 Endoscopies. Data From Pros…

2013

were those plausibly associated with the procedure and severe enough for the patient to seek medical attention. We compared the proportion of patients with adverse events associated with gastrointestinal endoscopy identified with direct patient contact to the proportion identified through our current infrastructure using the chi-square statistic. Results: During the study period, 11,710 endoscopic procedures were performed on 9,683 patients. Our study personnel made 3205 calls over a three month period and ultimately made contact with 1999 (17%; 84.5% of those called) patients. 28 (1.4%) adverse events were identified through direct patient contact. Our adverse event tracking infrastructure…

MERIT Study – “Multicenter Evaluation of Patient- and Lesion-Specific Prognostic Factors for RadioImmunoTherapy with 90yttrium-Labeled Anti-CD20 in F…

2009

Abstract Abstract 4792 Background / Aim Although prognostic factors (PF) for conventional lymphoma therapy are well known and used in clinical practice and medical research, the PF for radioimmunotherapy (RIT) have not been fully defined until now. The aim of this prospective multicenter trial is to identify patient- and lesion-specific PF for a standard RIT using 90Yttrium-labeled anti-CD20-antibodies in relapsed or refractory follicular lymphoma (FL) by means of clinical and image data including FDG-PET and CT. To prove the feasibility of the multicenter web-based data collection and to assess the imaging data we performed an analysis on retrospective data. Material and methods This retro…
