En la presente Tesis Doctoral se analizan diferentes parámetros implicados en las relaciones parásito-hospedador en helmintiasis intestinales mediante la utilización del modelo experimental Echinostoma caproni-roedor. Con esta finalidad se estudian diversos aspectos inmunológicos, además de las alteraciones intestinales inducidas por la infección en dos sistemas parásito-hospedador: E. caproni-ratón y E. caproni-rata. Los resultados obtenidos ponen de manifiesto que el IFN-γ y el óxido nítrico son mediadores fundamentales en el desarrollo de infecciones crónicas en ratón, induciendo disfunción mitocondrial en las células del epitelio intestinal e hiperplasia tisular. Morphological determination of the phototrophic community composition of biological soil crusts in coastal sand dunes in northern Germany

This dataset comprises the microbial community composition of biological soil crusts in north-German sand dunes. For this we obtained enrichment cultures of phototrophic microorganisms, by placing fragments of biocrusts of the same Petri dishes as used for sequencing, in Petri dishes with Bold Basal (1N BBM) agarized medium (Bischoff and Bold 1963). Cultures were grown under standard laboratory conditions: with a 12-hour alteration of light and dark phases and irradiation of 25 μmol photons m-2 s-1 at a temperature 20 ± 5 ºС. Parylenes are poly(p-xylylene) polymers that are widely used as moisture barriers and in biomedicine because of their good biocompatibility. We have investigated MeV ion beam lithography using 16O+ ions for writing defined patterns in Parylene-C, which is evaluated as a coating material for the Cochlear Implant (CI) electrode array, a neuroprosthesis to treat some forms of deafness. The purpose of this study was to evaluate feasibility and efficacy of Rituximab included into a sequential salvage protocol for CD20(+) B-NHL in relapse or induction failure. Twenty-seven patients with CD20(+) B-NHL in relapse or induction failure received Rituximab combined with DexaBEAM (R-DexaBEAM) for stem cell mobilization. Additional ex vivo selection of CD34-positive cells was performed using the CliniMacs device. Two doses of Rituximab were included in the high-dose therapy regimen (HDT). Summary Salvage therapy followed by high-dose therapy (HDT) remains a mainstay for patients with relapsed lymphoma, however no optimal regimen has been defined. Here we report on the results of R-DexaBEAM (rituximab, dexamethasone, carmustine, etoposide, cytarabine, melphalan) followed by HDT. Patients aged 18–65 years, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance score 0–2, with relapsed/refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) were eligible.
