IL MUSEO DI ZOOLOGIA DI PALERMO - THE ZOOLOGY MUSEUM OF PALERMO
2005

Into the Translation for Museums, Festivals, and the Stage: Creativity and the Transmedial Turn
2022
With the objective of scrutinising general standards, specific criteria and levels of creativity applied to translation practices, especially in light of recent research in audiovisual consumption and reception, creativity and transcreation, and arts accessibility and translation for the arts, the special issue seeks to contextualise the numerous shifts within the arts in relation to the theoretical and practical challenges that our increasingly technological culture poses for the modes of translation and accessibility. Freedom and Necessity in The Winter’s Tale
2014
From the first expository scene, The Winter’s Tale exhibits a concern with necessity, either through the use of the word itself, its derivatives (necessities, necessary), and their synonyms (needful, required) or through the notion of what “must” happen, what “cannot but” happen. The recurrence of such terms conveys a sense that this is a world where no one is free, and every action is dictated by force of circumstance. This is reinforced by the widespread use of the traditional imagery of fate. Yet the characters of the play are reluctant to submit to necessity. Some even fantasize states of absolute freedom, including freedom from the laws of nature. The play itself, notwithstanding the o…
Turning Right/Turning Left? : A Neoclassical Socioeconomic Query of the Arts Signaled by Museum and Branding in Finland
2016
ABSTRACTThe Guggenheim Helsinki Plan indicated a wishful turn of the arts and culture in Finland from the socio-democratic tradition of a welfare society towards a further neoliberalism. Following the Finnish historical timeline and from a museological viewpoint, this article reviews how national identity was built through the arts, which later integrated into formal and informal education to enhance human capital. This instrumental view now promotes the idea of useful art to fuel an innovation economy of advanced technology. Considering embarking on the intricate platform of arts, economics, and finance through Guggenheim, rethinking the contemporary art market mechanism may prove to be be…
Zaangażowanie muzeum w proces komunikowania o zmianie klimatu
2019
In this paper I addressed the issue of the engagement of museums in climate change. The problem of climate change is so important in the current social context that, despite its difficult political connotations, it cannot be ignored by museums, especially if we consider a museum as an element of a public sphere. Climate change is a challenge in 21st century. Climate change will present challenges that are of long-term nature, multidimensional and global phenomenon. It could impact directly on museums. I assume museums can provide a safe place for dialogue around climate change. Museums can also inform publics about the science of climate change and help to equip people with knowledge, shape…
