In particolare si evidenzia la preminenza delle due Cappelle Reali, i legami con la corte di Madrid e i rapporti dei viceré con l'aristocrazia, nonché l'attività di committenza in territori politicamente complessi. Le entrate e le rispettive incoronazioni a Palermo di Vittorio Amedeo II di Savoia e Carlo III di Borbone sono state analizzate sotto diversi punti di vista. Tuttavia gli aspetti musicali sono stati finora poco considerati, se non a margine di studi più generali sulla vita musicale palermitana. The aim of this paper is to discuss the relationship between systematic, cognitive and historical musicology. This will be done by outlining the historical and epistemological backgrounds, and comparing the methods and objects. It is argued that systematic and cognitive musicology have a common methodological background with a focus on the systematic way of conducting research. However, quite a lot of studies in cognitive musicology apply nonsystematic methods as well; even a historical approach to cognition is needed.
