El éxito sin precedentes de El último cuplé en 1957 confirmó a Sara Montiel como el primer gran mito sexual del franquismo. Partiendo del concepto de estrella cinematográfica como una representación cultural construida tanto dentro como fuera de la pantalla, el artículo aborda cómo la actriz encarnó un modelo de mujer que desafiaba los ideales franquistas de género que el régimen trataba de imponer al conjunto de españolas. En el presente artículo, analizaremos al detalle la refiguración posmoderna del mito clásico de Narciso en el largometraje Yo soy otro (2008), dirigido por el cineasta colombiano Óscar Campo. Según argüiremos desde una amplia perspectiva filosófica enfocada en las epistemologías contemporáneas del individuo posmetafísico, este filme propone una apropiación audaz de la trágica historia del efebo heleno que subsume las preocupaciones existenciales que determinan al sujeto contemporáneo y causan su auto-absorción individualista, su líquida impotencia, su falta de referentes trascendentales y sus pulsiones mortíferas.

In Song of Solomon Toni Morrison rewrites the legend of the Flying Africans and the Myth of Icarus to create her own Myth. Her depiction of the black hero’s search for identity has strong mythical overtones. Morrison rescues those elements of mythology black culture which are still relevant to blacks and fuses them with evident allusions to Greek mythology. She reinterprets old images and myths of flight, the main mythical motif in the story. Resumen: Este artículo compara cuatro migraciones caribeñas hacia las cuatro metrópolis que dominan el Caribe hoy. Se trata de las migraciones desde territorios no-independientes del Caribe: desde Martinica/Guadalupe hacia Francia, Puerto Rico hacia los Estados Unidos, Surinam/Caribe Holandés hacia Holanda y Caribe Británico hacia el Reino Unido. El artículo no solamente compara los procesos de emigración sino también los procesos de incorporación al llegar a las cuatro metrópolis. Abstract Toni Morrison’s fiction has frequently attracted critical attention on account of her strategic use of myth (whether classical or Afrocentric) and symbols. This paper examines the role that horses have, as rhetorical constructs, in strengthening the mythical and symbolic unity of her tenth novel Home (2012). Horses have figured widely in the articulation of African American history and letters, often serving as symbols of the abused slaves upon whose bodies the equipment and instruments of oppression and bondage were violently placed. This article explores paradoxes that emerge in the mentoring of highly-educated, female, foreign-born job-seekers in Finland. Theoretically, the study is linked to the growing body of research scrutinising the integration or discrimination of migrants in working life. It analyses cultural practices and ideas that are visible and affect the mentoring interaction. On a more practical level, the paper determines how the mentors and mentees experience the mentoring, and how intercultural mentoring could be improved in order to promote mentees’ employment. ABSTRACT: This article seeks to present the different languages (emblems, Renaissance translations of classical myths, biblical exegesis) that inform the images of monsters which, as hybrid creatures blending human and animal characteristics, serve a dramatic function in Shakespeare’s King Lear . It means to question the ways in which the play links filial ingratitude with female monstrosity and Lear’s madness.
