How to envisage research on the ancient city? What are the most appropriate instruments to analyse it? What are the relationships between the emergence of the city as an independent community and the urbanization as archaeology can restore it? L'Observatoire régional de l'emploi et de la formation (OREF) de Bourgogne a été sollicité en 1995 pour participer à l'élaboration des contrats d'objectifs professionnels. Free-riding is methodologically puzzling. It is at the same time important and often not observed as an actual phenomenon. The paper explores the possibility of treating free riding as an underlying or causal mechanism. As such, free riding is to be treated as part of the real world rather than of the world of models or theories. However, the free riding mechanism is particularly prone to operate not in isolation but together with other mechanisms. Agriculture in general and cocoa farm in particular is one of the primary sources of income for several African countries. Although quite useful for the development of Africa, cocoa production is faced with several challenges like the diseases of cocoa trees. Mirid (Sahlbergella singularis) is the worst pest affecting cocoa production across west Africa causing 30% to 40% of damage on cocoa production. It is difficult to control the mirids’ population and its impact on the cacao production.
