Starting from a possible definition of “Italian migration literature”, this study intends to analyze the formal, linguistic, thematic, cultural and social impact that the work in prose and verse of various migrant authors residing in Italy and writing in Italian exercises on the literary system of the host country. Drawing on the notions of migration, wandering and exile, this type of literary production demands that today's literary criticism redefine the traditional parameters that until now have determined the canon of national cultural and literary systems based on the identity-culture-language paradigm.
