The Polish School of Argumentation: A Manifesto

Building on our diverse research traditions in the study of reasoning, language and communication, the Polish School of Argumentation integrates various disciplines and institutions across Poland in which scholars are dedicated to understanding the phenomenon of the force of argument. Our primary goal is to craft a methodological programme and establish organisational infrastructure: this is the first key step in facilitating and fostering our research movement, which joins people with a common research focus, complementary skills and an enthusiasm to work together. This statement—the Manifesto—lays the foundations for the research programme of the Polish School of Argumentation.

Zbiorowiska z klasy Utricularietea intermedio-minoris DEN HARTOG et SEGAL 1964 em. PIETSCH 1965 należą do wyspecjalizowanych pod względem ekologicznym fitocenoz, występujących w wodach oligotroficznych oraz dystroficznych na podłożu torfowym. Polsce należą do grupy zbiorowisk bardzo słabo zbadanych. W 2014 r. na terenie Słowińskiego Parku Narodowego zbiorowiska z klasy Utricularietea intermedio-minoris zostały stwierdzone w dystroficznym zbiorniku wodnym koło miejscowości Gać. Są to: Sparganietum minimi (współrzędne geograficzne 54°69’05,65’’ N, 17°50’40,42’’ E) oraz Scorpidio-Utricularietum minoris (współrzędne geograficzne 54°69’06,52’’ N, 17°50’50,29’’ E). W artykule została przedstawiona droga do zrealizowania, podjętego w 1891 r., przez Stowarzyszenie Domu Zdrowia dla Kapłanów w Zakopanem założenia, budowy domu wspólnoty, z uwzględnieniem bazy zakładu leczniczego. Obiekt przyjmował różną formułę: od domu dla księży w celach zdrowotnych, turystycznych po współczesne funkcje rekolekcyjno-szkoleniowe; od przeznaczenia dla osób wyłącznie duchownych, po szeroką ofertę korzystania z domu przez osoby świeckie. Tekst wprowadza w atmosferę panującą w „Księżówce” w czasach zaboru austriackiego, w II Rzeczypospolitej oraz w okresie okupacji hitlerowskiej.

The article presents the position of “the Castle” on emigration (the President, government and the Council of the Republic of Poland) towards the events in Poland and the Eastern Bloc in 1956. The politicians and publicists of “the Castle”, observing some changes in the country, did not expect that they would lead to basic changes. The opinion prevailed that Poland was not an independent state and that the Soviet occupation still persisted. Propagating maximum demands (independence, restoration of the pre-war border in the east), they did not have much hope in an evolutionary course of changes. The Spanish Civil War of 1936–1939, as an ideologised and mythologised event, has been and is still used instrumentally within the Polish public discourse. The war was an important subject for the Polish press in the years 1936–1939. The Catholic, national-democratic, and conservative press supported General Franco’s rebellion. The governmental and pro-government press also supported the rebels. The Christian-democratic and peasants’ party press remained neutral. W artykule przedstawiony został stan techniczny dróg lądowych i rzecznych, mostów, grobli oraz pozostałej infrastruktury komunikacyjnej w Polsce na podstawie relacji podróżników z zagranicy, w tym Rosjan. Stan oraz jakość lądowych i rzecznych środków transportu był oceniany przez cudzoziemców bardzo nisko, podobnie jak jakość usług oferowanych w przydrożnych karczmach w Polsce i na Litwie. W rezultacie podróżowanie w XVIII w. po Rzeczypospolitej mogło stanowić interesujące doświadczenie. Abstract Natural water reservoirs are very valuable floristic sites in south-western Poland. Among them, the most important for the preservation of biodiversity of flora are oxbow lakes. The long-term process of human pressure on habitats of this type caused disturbances of their biological balance. Pentecostalism is the most evolving Christian movement in the contemporary world. Some churches of this tradition have been engaged in a dialogue with the Catholic Church sińce 1972.
