Word Processing in Scene Context : An Event-Related Potential Study in Young Children
2017
Semantic priming has been demonstrated in object or word contexts in toddlers. However, less is known about semantic priming in scene context. In this study, 24-month-olds with high and low vocabulary skills were presented with visual scenes (e.g., kitchen) followed by semantically consistent (e.g., spoon) or inconsistent (e.g., bed) spoken words. Inconsistent scene-word pairs evoked a larger N400 component over the frontal areas. Low-producers presented a larger N400 over the right while high-producers over the left frontal areas. Our results suggest that contextual information facilitates word processing in young children. Additionally, children with different linguistic skills activate d…
Cross-linguistic variation in the neurophysiological response to semantic processing: Evidence from anomalies at the borderline of awareness
2014
The N400 event-related brain potential (ERP) has played a major role in the examination of how the human brain processes meaning. For current theories of the N400, classes of semantic inconsistencies which do not elicit N400 effects have proven particularly influential. Semantic anomalies that are difficult to detect are a case in point ("borderline anomalies", e.g. "After an air crash, where should the survivors be buried?"), engendering a late positive ERP response but no N400 effect in English (Sanford, Leuthold, Bohan, & Sanford, 2011). In three auditory ERP experiments, we demonstrate that this result is subject to cross-linguistic variation. In a German version of Sanford and colleagu…

Polymeric carbon nitride (C3N4) as heterogeneous photocatalyst for selective oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes
2018
Abstract Polymeric carbon nitride (C3N4) is a semiconductor material which is a very promising green photocatalyst with good physico-chemical properties and stability. It is a metal-free carbon based non-toxic material which can be easily obtained from earth-abundant components. The robustness and versatility of C3N4 as a photo-redox catalyst allows its use for selective oxidations by heterogeneous photocatalysis. This paper reviews the state of art in the application of C3N4 as heterogeneous photocatalyst for selective oxidation of alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes.
Heterogeneous photocatalytic materials for sustainable formation of high-value chemicals in green solvents
2021
Abstract The most investigated materials used as heterogeneous photocatalysts for the formation of high-value chemicals under mild experimental conditions are presented in this survey. Only papers reporting reactions carried out in harmless solvents such as water, the green solvent par excellence, are reported. Metal oxides have been used often, but carbon-based materials such as carbon nitride and graphene, metal nanoparticles, sulphides and selenides also have received a great attention mainly due to their good performances both in partial oxidations and reductions. The results presented indicate that an appropriate choice of the photocatalytic material is the main problem to be faced to …
Counting and equidistribution in Heisenberg groups
2014
We strongly develop the relationship between complex hyperbolic geometry and arithmetic counting or equidistribution applications, that arises from the action of arithmetic groups on complex hyperbolic spaces, especially in dimension $2$. We prove a Mertens' formula for the integer points over a quadratic imaginary number fields $K$ in the light cone of Hermitian forms, as well as an equidistribution theorem of the set of rational points over $K$ in Heisenberg groups. We give a counting formula for the cubic points over $K$ in the complex projective plane whose Galois conjugates are orthogonal and isotropic for a given Hermitian form over $K$, and a counting and equidistribution result for …
Counting and equidistribution in quaternionic Heisenberg groups
2020
AbstractWe develop the relationship between quaternionic hyperbolic geometry and arithmetic counting or equidistribution applications, that arises from the action of arithmetic groups on quaternionic hyperbolic spaces, especially in dimension 2. We prove a Mertens counting formula for the rational points over a definite quaternion algebra A over ${\mathbb{Q}}$ in the light cone of quaternionic Hermitian forms, as well as a Neville equidistribution theorem of the set of rational points over A in quaternionic Heisenberg groups.
Rigidité, comptage et équidistribution de chaînes de Cartan quaternioniques
2020
We prove an analog of Cartan's theorem, saying that the chain-preserving transformations of the boundary of the quaternionic hyperbolic spaces are projective transformations.
Impact of graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets in mixed- matrix membranes for removal of heavy metals from water
2021
International audience; Removal of heavy metal ions from water is being a challenge and Polysulfone (PSf) membranes have shown great potential to remove them from contaminated solutions. In this work, the introduction of Graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets (g-C3N4) into PSf membranes was implemented to improve the permeability and separation performance of PSf membranes. g-C3N4 was incorporated into the membrane matrix via nonsolvent induced phase inversion method. The prepared mixed matrix membranes showed enhanced performances towards water filtration. The incorporation of g-C3N4 into the membrane matrix caused an increase in the desired physicochemical properties like hydrophilicity and …
Influence of heme oxygenase 1 modulation on the progression of murine collagen-induced arthritis.
2005
Contains fulltext : 48023.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) OBJECTIVE: Heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) can be induced by inflammatory mediators as an adaptive response. The objective of the present study was to determine the consequences of HO-1 modulation in the murine collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) model. METHODS: DBA/1J mice were treated with an inhibitor of HO-1, tin protoporphyrin IX (SnPP), or with an inducer of HO-1, cobalt protoporphyrin IX (CoPP), from day 22 to day 29 after CIA induction. The clinical evolution of disease was monitored visually. At the end of the experiment, joints were examined for histopathologic changes. Cytokine levels in paws were measured by enzyme-linked…
