Gatunki pluskwiaków różnoskrzydłych (Hemiptera: Heteroptera) z terenu Polski wykorzystywane w badaniach molekularnych – przegląd / Species of Heterop…

2020

Approximately 740 species of Heteroptera have been hitherto recorded in Poland, including 705 species of the so called “terrestrial true bugs”. Data on their distribution in our country come mainly from the faunistic and ecological research. However, Heteroptera species faunistic lists often omit locations of specimens used in various kind of molecular studies due to several reasons: (1) such data are not always included in the source paper, (2) the location is given in the description of the nucleotide sequence of the specimen only in the GenBank, (3) the differences between typical faunistic and molecular studies result in inadvertent omission of the latter. The paper presents…

Solutions for parametric double phase Robin problems

2021

We consider a parametric double phase problem with Robin boundary condition. We prove two existence theorems. In the first the reaction is ( p − 1 )-superlinear and the solutions produced are asymptotically big as λ → 0 + . In the second the conditions on the reaction are essentially local at zero and the solutions produced are asymptotically small as λ → 0 + .

Molecular Cloning of aCandida albicans Gene (SSB1) Coding for a Protein Related to the Hsp70 Family

1997

We have cloned and sequenced a Candida albicans gene (SSB1) encoding a potential member of the heat-shock protein seventy (hsp70) family. The protein encoded by this gene contains 613 amino acids and shows a high degree (85%) of sequence identity to the ssb subfamily (ssb1 and ssb2) of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae hsp70 family. The transcribed mRNA (2·1 kb) is present in similar amounts both in yeast and germ tube cells of C. albicans. The sequence data has been deposited in the GenBank data library under the Accession Number X97723. © John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Multiple methods for the identification of polymorphic simple sequence repeats (SSRs) in sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench]

1995

Simple sequence repeats (SSRs), also known as microsatellites, are highly variable DNA sequences that can be used as markers for the genetic analysis of plants. Three approaches were followed for the development of PCR primers for the amplification of DNA fragments containing SSRs from sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench]: a search for sorghum SSRs in public DNA databases; the use of SSR-specific primers developed in the Poaceae species maize (Zea mays L.) and seashore paspalum grass (Paspalum vaginatum Swartz); and the screening of sorghum genomic libraries by hybridization with SSR oligonucleotides. A total of 49 sorghum SSR-specific PCR primer pairs (two designed from GenBank SSR-contai…

Nucleotide sequence of plasmid p4028, a cryptic plasmid from Leuconostoc oenos.

1996

Abstract TheLeuconostoc oenosplasmid p4028 was cloned in pBlueScript (SK+), and its complete nucleotide sequence was determined. The analysis of the nucleotide sequence revealed five open reading frames, all of them located on the same strand and grouped in two clusters separated by a short noncoding stretch. A similarity search against the other sequences deposited in the EMBL and GenBank databases showed that p4028 has no significant similarity with any of the sequences checked. Nevertheless, a putative ATP-binding motif was found in ORF2. A more detailed analysis of this ORF suggests that it could encode for a DNA-dependent ATPase.

Comparative validity of the OIDP and OHIP-14 in describing the impact of oral health on quality of life in a cross-sectional study performed in Spani…

2010

Objectives: We aimed to compare the utility and validity of two popular socio-dental indicators (OIDP and OHIP- 14) for describing the impact of oral conditions on quality of life applied simultaneously. Study design: We recruited a consecutive sample of 270 healthy Spanish workers visiting the Employment Risk Prevention Centre for a routine medical check-up. OHIP-14 was self-completed before the oral examination and the face to face interview of the OIDP was performed. Both instruments were compared by evaluating its reliability and its validity. Results and Conclusions: The standardised Cronbach alphas for OHIP-14 and OIDP were 0.89 and 0.74 respectively. OIDP showed lower face validity b…

Reliability and Validity of Family Affluence Scale (FAS II) among Adolescents in Beijing, China

2011

This study comprises two sub-studies. Study I assessed the test-retest reliability of Family Affluence Scale (FAS II) items among 95 students aged 11 and 15 years old in Beijing. Study II investigated the completion rate of traditional indicators (parents’ educational level, perceived family wealth, resident area, and school location) measuring socioeconomic status (SES) compared with FAS II, and examined the internal reliability, external and construct validity of the FAS II items in a population of 5876 schoolchildren aged 11, 13 and 15 years old in Beijing. Our study found that the FAS II items have high completion rates (> 99%) which are better than other SES indicators. Analyses of rel…

Measurement of the will to live in older adults: Transcultural adaptation, validity and reliability of the Will-to-Live Scale

2019

Abstract Objective The Will-to-Live Scale (WTLS) is used to measure the will to live in older adults; however, there is no Spanish version. The objective of the study was to translate the WTLS into Spanish, assess its internal structure, reliability, and the correlates between WTLS and life satisfaction, resilience, and depression in older Peruvian adults. Method The participants were 235 Peruvian older adults (M = 72.69, SD = 6.68), evaluated between March to May 2019, selected through non-probability sampling. The WTLS, the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), the Brief Resilient Coping Scale (BRCS) and the Patient Health Questionnaire-2 (PHQ-2) were administered. Data analysis included r…

Testing reliability and validity of Lorensen’s Self-care Capability Scale (LSCS) among older home-living, care-dependent individuals in Norway

2012

dale b., saevareid h. i., soderhamn o. (2013) Testing reliability and validity of Lorensen’s Self-care Capability Scale (LSCS) among older home-living, care-dependent individuals in Norway. International Journal of Older People Nursing 8, 166–173 doi: 10.1111/j.1748-3743.2012.00339.x Aim and objective.  The aim of this study was to test reliability and validity of the Lorensen’s Self-Care Capability Scale (LSCS). Background.  The assessment of self-care capability among older people living at home is essential for maintaining independence for as long as possible. Method.  The study sample consisted of 242 home nursing patients who were 75 + years old and living at home. The responsible home…

Testing and comparing two self-care-related instruments among older Chinese adults

2017

Objectives The study aimed to test and compare the reliability and validity, including sensitivity and specificity of the two self-care-related instruments, the Self-care Ability Scale for the Elderly (SASE), and the Appraisal of Self-care Agency Scale-Revised (ASAS-R), among older adults in the Chinese context. Methods A cross-sectional design was used to conduct this study. The sample consisted of 1152 older adults. Data were collected by a questionnaire including the Chinese version of SASE (SASE-CHI), the Chinese version of ASAS-R (ASAS-R-CHI) and the Exercise of Self-Care Agency scale (ESCA). Homogeneity and stability, content, construct and concurrent validity, and sensitivity and spe…
