A relational model for unstructured documents

The logical structure of a document is usually a tree in which the order of the nodes is important at least at some level of the tree. We call a document unstructured if its structure is a single-level ordered tree. The purpose of this paper is to present a many-sorted algebra for handling unstructured documents. The documents in the model are represented by relations. An algebra for handling documents of one type can be extended to an algebra for handling documents of several types. Further, an algebra for handling documents can be extended by the relational algebra for handling documents and relations in a common algebra. Abstract Platooning technology aims at achieving fuel savings by reducing the distance between two or more electronically coupled vehicles. This technology has recently been tested on public highways with heavy trucks in Germany and California. The objective of this study is to assess the level of acceptance among other road users as well as influencing factors of acceptance. An online questionnaire was administered in Germany and California with a total of N = 536 participants. Abstract This chapter approaches the question of biopolitics in ancient political thought looking not at specific political techniques but at notions of the final aim of the political community. It argues that the “happiness” (eudaimonia, beatitudo) that constitutes the greatest human good in the tradition from Aristotle to Thomas Aquinas is not a “biopolitical” ideal, but rather a metabiopolitical one, consisting in a contemplative activity situated above and beyond the biological and the political. This paper presents the project Poetriae, focusing on the steps already taken and on the ongoing work, as well as on its methods and future steps. Mainly, Poetriae aims at building a digital library of Medieval and Golden Age Castilian poetry treatises. It will create digital editions for them, by philologically marking up each metrical and poetic concept in an unambiguous way, in order to allow treatises to be retrievable not just by bibliographic metadata, but also by key concepts, such as poetic genre, stanza types, rhyme, etc. The project also intends to enable automatic analysis and visualizations of such data. Offshore pipelines construction is a technological challenge. Increasing water depth, harsh environments, engineering and commercial constraints are just some of the existing issues. In this paper we compute the numerical solutions of Navier-Stokes equations in the case of the two dimensional disk impulsively started in a uniform back- ground flow. We shall solve the Navier-Stokes equations (for different Reynolds numbers ranging from 1.5 · 10^3 up to 10^5 ) with a fully spectral numerical scheme. We shall give a description of unsteady separation process in terms of large and small scale interactions acting over the flow. The beginning of these interactions will be linked to the topological change of the streamwise pressure gradient on the disk.
