Location of solutions for quasi-linear elliptic equations with general gradient dependence

Existence and location of solutions to a Dirichlet problem driven by $(p,q)$-Laplacian and containing a (convection) term fully depending on the solution and its gradient are established through the method of subsolution-supersolution. Here we substantially improve the growth condition used in preceding works. The abstract theorem is applied to get a new result for existence of positive solutions with a priori estimates.

Quantitative reconstruction of hydroclimate variability over the last 200 kyr in the West Mediterranean

The data show the quantitative annual, winter and summer precipitation reconstructions (mm/yr) from southern Iberian Peninsula for the last ~200,000 years (Camuera et al., 2022), based on the previously published fossil pollen data from the Padul-15-05 lake sediment record (Ramos-Román et al., 2018a, b; Camuera et al., 2019, 2021). The Padul-15-05 record, located in southern Spain (37º00'39''N, 3º36'14''W, 726 masl), was retrieved during summer 2015 from the current edge of the lake using a Rolatec RL-48-L hydraulic percussion coring machine. The Gulf of Sirte is a largely unexplored area in the southernmost Mediterranean Sea.We are presenting here 2008 summer data on the distribution pattern of living coccolithophores, a main phytoplankton calcifying group, in 105 samples from 20 stations. The survey includes coastal and offshore stations, enabling us to provide indications on the dynamics of phytoplankton productivity in relation to oceanographic processes. The total coccosphere concentrations show higher values in the offshore stations and lower ones for coastal sites. Tutkimuksemme tavoitteena oli tutkia, miten työntekijät kokevat luonnossa ulkoilun vaikuttavan heidän työhyvinvointiinsa. Selvitimme myös millaisia yhteyksiä luonnon koetuilla vaikutuksilla sekä luontovierailun kestolla oli työhyvinvointiin, jota tarkastelimme työn imun ja työuupumuksen käsitteiden avulla. Lisäksi tarkastelimme luonnon koettujen vaikutusten yhteyttä luontovierailun kestoon. Tutkimuksemme aineisto koostui kyselytutkimuksesta, johon vastasi 783 työntekijää 13 eri organisaatiosta kevään ja syksyn 2016 aikana. Mourning Missing Migrants: Ambiguous Loss and the Grief of Strangers

While the term missing refers to various instances and practices, we focus on the bodies of deceased migrants that remain unidentified, and on the inability of families to mourn someone when there is no body to grieve for. We deploy some ethnographic fragments of how Italian communities sometimes mourn those who are buried without a name and we describe the many problems of mourning someone whose fate is unknown through a discussion of the notion of ‘ambiguous loss’. Our contribution articulates some of the politics around deaths in migration by considering how missing migrants and their bodies are mourned in multiplicity. peerReviewed

On the occasion of EDRA50 Brooklyn, held at NYU Tandon School of Engineering and devoted to the topic of “Sustainable Urban Environments: Research, Design and Planning for the Next 50 Years”, it was decided that a collateral program of sustainable art activities could widely enrich the conference impact and scope. Furthermore, it provided an interesting opportunity for conference attendees, mostly involved in the fields of research, education and planning, to discover projects or ideas that spring from creative practice and evaluate emerging trends such as the visual arts devoted to sustainability.

Resumen En buena parte de los 17 objetivos de desarrollo sostenible marcados como metas de la humanidad por la ONU se deja entrever la sostenibilidad. Debido al modelo socioproductivo dominante, el único modo de avanzar hacia territorios más sostenibles que permitan alcanzar y mantener el bienestar de la población mundial, es tener presente la necesidad de planificar adecuadamente el desarrollo territorial. Este trabajo reflexiona sobre esta necesidad y avanza en la definición de los principales criterios para alcanzar la sostenibilidad territorial en las escalas regionales y locales.
Novērtējumu kļūdu analīze neatbildētības gadījumā

Darba tēma ir "Novērtējumu kļūdu analīze neatbildētības gadījumā". Neatbildētība ir ļoti aktuāla problēma ar kuru saskarās visos apsekojumos. Darbā tiek izpētīts neatbildētības teorētiskais pamats, aplūkota neatbildētības ietekme uz novērtējuma precizitāti un iespējas šo ietekmi samazināt. Lai apstiprinātu teorētiskos apgalvojumus par neatbildētības ietekmi darbā dažādiem novērtējumiem tiek rēķinātas vidējās kvadrātiskās kļūdas atbildējušo respondentu, neatbildējušo respondentu daļām un populācijas kopumam. Ar praktisku piemēru tiek parādīts, ka ar svaru sistēmas korekcijas palīdzību tiek palielināta novērtējumu precizitāte (samazināta neatbildētības ietekme).
