What is Alloxysta fulviceps (Curtis, 1838) (Hymenoptera: Cynipoidea:Figitidae: Charipinae)?

Memoirs of Museum Victoria 68: 67–70. The validity of Alloxysta fulviceps (Curtis, 1838) and its synonymies have been examined. After studying the type series and the taxonomic history of this species, we conclude that the lectotype was wrongly designated. A new lectotype is designated and A. fulviceps is synonymised with A. victrix (Westwood, 1833).

Eutrophication drives phytoplankton communities toward the dominance of cyanobacteria, which means a decrease in the availability of sterols and long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (EPA and DHA). Design of PNIPAAM covalently grafted on halloysite nanotubes as a support for metal-based catalysts

A thermo-responsive polymer such as poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAM) was covalently grafted on the external surface of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) by means of microwave irradiation. This nanomaterial was used as a support and stabilizer for palladium nanoparticles. The obtained HNT–PNIPAAM/PdNPs was characterized by means of TGA, SEM, EDS and TEM analyses. The palladium content of the catalyst was estimated to be 0.4 wt%. The stability of the catalytic material at different temperatures (below and above the PNIPAAM lower critical solution temperature) was tested in the Suzuki reaction under microwave irradiation. The economic crisis is a time when the social sector professional has to live up to expectations by informing, raising awareness, helping with self-organization and mobilisation from our privileged position as intermediaries with the people, honouring our ethical obligation to fight for the social rights of the underprivileged and defending them. One cannot understand a social worker still managing to remain faithful to their ethical principles while not participating in denunciation and campaigning groups and not having motives for getting involved in the denunciation protests and mobilizations taking place all over the land today.

Phylogeny of the parasitic wasp subfamily Charipinae (Hymenoptera, Cynipoidea, Figitidae)

The Charipinae are a major group of hyperparasitoids of Hemiptera. Here, we present the first cladistic analysis of this subfamily's internal relationships, based on 96 morphological characters of adults. The data matrix was analysed using uniformly weighted parsimony. The effects of using alternative weighting schemes were explored by performing additional searches employing implied weights criteria. One of the caveats of implied weights analysis is that it lacks an objective criterion for selecting the value of the concavity function. Tumor heterogeneity has been compared with Darwinian evolution and survival of the fittest. The evolutionary ecosystem of tumors consisting of heterogeneous tumor cell populations represents a considerable challenge to tumor therapy, since all genetically and phenotypically different subpopulations have to be efficiently killed by therapy. Protein databases are steadily growing driven by the spread of new more efficient sequencing techniques. This growth is dominated by an increase in redundancy (homologous proteins with various degrees of sequence similarity) and by the incapability to process and curate sequence entries as fast as they are created. An AC-assisted single-nanowire electromechanical switch

A unique two-source controlled nanoelectromechanical switch has been assembled from individual, single-clamped Ge nanowires. The switching behaviour was achieved by superimposing the control signals of specific frequencies to the electrostatic potential of the output terminals, eliminating the need for an additional gate electrode. Using an in situ manipulation technique inside a scanning electron microscope, we demonstrate that the pull-out force required to overcome adhesion at the contact can be significantly reduced by exciting mechanical resonant modes within the nanowire.
