Test bench for coupling and shielding magnetic field

This paper describes a test bench for training purposes, which uses a magnetic field generator to couple this magnetic field to a victim circuit. It can be very useful to test for magnetic susceptibility as well. The magnetic field generator consists of a board, which generates a variable current that flows into a printed circuit board with spiral tracks (noise generator). The victim circuit consists of a coaxial cable concentric with the spiral tracks and its generated magnetic field. Experimental characterization of a wind generator prototype for sustainable small wind farms

This paper presents the experimental characterization of a wind turbine prototype used for micro wind farms. The proposed prototype, whose advantages can be summarized in versatility of application, low noise and compactness, can generate 1 kW of rated power for a wind speed equal to 4 m/s. The tests here reported and carried out by means of an experimental test bench confirm that the prototype is well designed and adequate for the purpose of its application.

New statistical post processing approach for precise fault and defect localization in TRI database acquired on complex VLSI

International audience; Timing issue, missing or extra state transitions or unusual consumption can be detected and localized by Time Resolved Imaging (TRI) database analysis. Although, long test pattern can challenge this process. The number of photons to process rapidly increases and the acquisition time to have a good signal over noise ratio (SNR) can be prohibitive. As a result, the tracking of the defect emission signature inside a huge database can be quite complicated. In this paper, a method based on data mining techniques is suggested to help the TRI end user to have a good idea about where to start a deeper analysis of the integrated circuit, even with such complex databases.

Noise risk assessment in a bottling line of a modern Sicilian winery

In wine industry, bottling is a phase of the production cycle characterized by high levels of noise mostly due to repeated collisions between the bottles. In Italy the Law Decree 81/2008 defined the requirements for assessing and managing noise risk, identifying a number of procedures to be adopted at different noise levels to limit workers exposure. This study aims at evaluating the equivalent and peak noise level inside the bottling plant area of a modern Sicilian winery. A Wireless Acoustic Array System for Binaural Loudness Evaluation in Cities

Networks of acoustic sensors are being deployed in smart cities to continuously monitor noise levels. In this paper, a novel acoustic sensor device is designed for binaural loudness evaluation, in a standalone platform. The audio is acquired from an array of microphones and a binaural signal is synthesized by a direction-of-arrival algorithm and a head-related transfer function. Hardware setup and software algorithms are presented and the results are discussed. Finally, the tests conducted in an early deployment show the feasibility of using the device to carry out large temporal and spatial sampling for the evaluation of binaural loudness.

Stability and Noises Evaluation of Fuzzy Kalman UAV Navigation System.

In this paper a new Fuzzy/Kalman navigation system for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) is presented. A closed loop velocity Fuzzy navigation system is proposed for stabilizing the UAV in a reference trajectory generated dynamically and for obtaining a forward velocity command. The Kalman's filter (KF) is included in the feedback line of the fuzzy control system to filter the internal noise of the sensors and to evaluate the external noise due to possible perturbations of the nominal motion. The efficiency of the navigation system has been shown through experimental tests in a Matlab environment.

Combination of modal responses consistent with seismic input representation

The well-known modal superposition method for the evaluation of seismic response by the complete quadratic modal combination rule (CQC) is revisited. The most widely used version of the CQC rule utilizes correlation coefficients derived for white-noise excitation and neglects the influence of peak factor variation on the response. Optimum design of two-level MCML gates

In this paper, we address the problem of the optimum design of two-level MOS Current Mode Logic (MCML) gates. In particular, we describe a design methodology based on the concept of crossing-point current already introduced for the optimum design of single-level MCML gates. This methodology is suited both for automated implementation and graphic estimate of the optimum design. Moreover, it clearly shows how some important design parameters affect the optimum values of delay and power consumption. Several gates were designed in an IBM 130 nm CMOS technology. The results of SPICE simulations, reported here, demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design methodology.
