A sensemaking approach to a discursive ethical skill in healthcare management: the case of an oncopaediatric service

International audience; This study uses the case of an oncological paediatric service to discuss sensemaking and discourse ethics in the context of caregiving, building ethical competence to provide the best care possible to children. The patients and their families live in paediatric care, some for several years. At length, an intense relationship may develop between the medical staff and patients' family members, albeit at times a difficult relationship. Still, interviews conducted indicated that when caregivers provided the best care possible to these patients, even in this harsh environment, an ethics of sensitivity made a positive difference both for the patients and the medical staff.…

Przyjmuje się, że innowacje nie są tworzone przez pojedyncze osoby, ale przez sieci współpracujących ze sobą osób. Dlatego też powstały organizacje, których celem jest kreowanie środowiska – ekosystemy sprzyjającemu powstawaniu, a następnie zarządzaniu innowacjami. On Ignoring the Random Effects Assumption in Multilevel Models: Review, Critique, and Recommendations

Entities such as individuals, teams, or organizations can vary systematically from one another. Researchers typically model such data using multilevel models, assuming that the random effects are uncorrelated with the regressors. Violating this testable assumption, which is often ignored, creates an endogeneity problem thus preventing causal interpretations. Focusing on two-level models, we explain how researchers can avoid this problem by including cluster means of the Level 1 explanatory variables as controls; we explain this point conceptually and with a large-scale simulation. Climate variability, innovation and firm performance: evidence from the European agricultural sector

Abstract It is generally accepted that adaptation to climate variability requires a technological advancement strategy. However, the innovation process has received little explicit consideration in this framework. We employ a panel endogenous switching regression model to explore whether and to what extent climate variability affects firm performance through the ability to induce the development of adaptation innovations in key resource-based sectors in Europe during the period 2007–2017.
