In this study, we introduce new insights into prosodic analyses as an emerging method to study what happens in classrooms interactions. We claim that the prosodic aspects (features of speech such as intonation, volume and pace) of talk are important, but under-represented in the learning sciences. These prosodic aspects may be used to complement, intensify or even reverse the linguistic content of speech. Thus far, most research on classrooms has focused on the content (what is said) rather than on understanding the meaning of the prosodic features (how it is said) of talk. Computational thinking and acting: An approach for primary school competency development

Computational Thinking has become an important concept for almost all age groups. It describes the purposeful utilization of Information and Communication Technologies for solving problems. The approach of Computational Thinking and Acting combines the computational thinking approach with physical computing, including physical activities to explore real-world problems and tangible outcomes. In this paper, we present a competency framework, design principles, and a sample learning scenario for Computational Thinking and Acting. The evolving technological landscape in the digital era has a crucial influence on lifelong learning and the demand for problem‐solving skills. In this paper, we identify associations between formal, non‐formal and informal learning with sufficient problem‐solving skills in technology‐rich environments (TRE). We focus on adults' problem‐solving skills in TRE as a novel approach to investigate formal, non‐formal and informal learning based on data from the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies. The purpose of this study is to describe the genre of an expository history essay. The data consist of 52 document-based essays that were written as a part of a history exam at a Finnish general upper secondary school. In this article, I analyse the functional structure of these essays using genre-theoretical move-analysis in a framework of genre theories and disciplinary literacies. Three different moves and six steps were found. The communicative functions of these structural elements were to contextualize the historical content of the essays, to analyse historical documents, and to use the analysis for supporting the chosen argument. Maģistra darbs “Optometrijas tekstu salīdzinošā analīze spāņu un latviešu valodā” ir veltīts specializēto tekstu lingvistiskajai analīzei. Pētījuma objekts ir optometrijas teksti latviešu un spāņu valodā, kas līdz šim nav pētīti. Šis lingvistiskais pētījums var būt kā pamats turpmākiem specializētās valodas pētījumiem, kā arī tulkošanā. Darba mērķis ir izanalizēt pieejamo literatūru par tekstu tipoloģiju, noteikt optometrijas tekstu piederību zinātniskajam diskursam, definēt tekstu žanrus, izanalizēt un salīdzināt raksturīgākās lingvistiskās īpašības optometrijas tekstiem spāņu un latviešu valodā. Tā kā rakstu valodas pilnveide ir aktuāla tēma augstskolā, bija svarīgi uzzināt par vienaudžu atgriezeniskās saites īstenošanas efektivitāti darījumu vēstuļu apguvē. Uzmanība tika pievērsta lietišķai sarakstei angļu valodā, jo šim žanram ir svarīga loma cilvēku profesionālajā un ikdienas dzīvē. Lai sasniegtu izvirzīto mērķi, gadījuma izpēte tika izmantota kā galvenā pētniecības metode. Pētniecības dati tika iegūti ar pirms- un pēcaptaujām, pirms- un pēctestiem, ieskaitot kvalitatīvo un kvantitatīvo paraugu analīzes.
