Collaborative Problem Solving in Finnish Pre-service Teacher Education: A Case Study

This chapter provides results from a case study utilising the ATC21STM assessment portal in the context of pre-service teacher education in Finland. The results from the portal are combined with a questionnaire regarding teamwork and collaboration dispositions. Twenty-four pre-service teachers completed both these measures. The students of this study were following two divergent teacher education programs that had different profiles in terms of their study contents and methods of studying. Understanding adults’ strong problem-solving skills based on PIAAC

Purpose Research has shown that the problem-solving skills of adults with a vocational education and training (VET) background in technology-rich environments (TREs) are often inadequate. However, some adults with a VET background do have sound problem-solving skills. The present study aims to provide insight into the socio-demographic, work-related and everyday life factors that are associated with a strong problem-solving performance. Two-variable First-Order Logic with Counting in Forests

We consider an extension of two-variable, first-order logic with counting quantifiers and arbitrarily many unary and binary predicates, in which one distinguished predicate is interpreted as the mother-daughter relation in an unranked forest. We show that both the finite satisfiability and the general satisfiability problems for the extended logic are decidable in NExpTime. We also show that the decision procedure for finite satisfiability can be extended to the logic where two distinguished predicates are interpreted as the mother-daughter relations in two independent forests.

International audience; Dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium (DNRA) and its importance in comparison to denitrification were studied in soil samples artificially repacked to control water potential and porosity, and incubated for 72 h. Labelled nitrate (100 mg N.kg-’ dry soil, 21.8 % 15N in excess) and increasing levels of glucose-C (250, 500 and 1 000 mg glucose-Ckg-’ dry soil) were initially added to the soil samples to obtain increasing glucose-C/nitrate-N ratios of 2.5,5 and 10, which were then subjected to different 0, partial pressures (0,0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 % (v/v)).
