In this workshop, we introduce a STEAM learning activity based on the construction of geodesic domes. This workshop will engage participants in various preliminary and exploratory constructions, while also applying the geometry of geodesic domes to approximate hemispheres. In the agency relation between the shareholders and the CEO, everybody try toreinforce his or her position. For the CEO, it means the pursuit of a betterentrenchment, which allows him to reduce the risk of being dismissed. Theentrenchment model develops the importance for the CEO to get internal or externalconnections and to make efforts in order to attain a higher performance. From a sampleof 1747 annual observations concerning 258 CEOs of public firms for the 1966-1990period, empirical measures allow us to estimate the importance of internal networksand past performance by establishing a measure of CEO entrenchment. The Penning trap setup JYFLTRAP, connected to the IGISOL facility, has been extensively used for atomic mass measurements of exotic nuclei. On the proton rich side of the chart of nuclei mass measurements have mostly contributed to fundamental physics and nuclear astrophysics studies with about 100 atomic masses measured. peerReviewed

Joseph Conrad wniósł do literatury angielskiej prawdziwie polską duszę i fantazję. Ostatni z polskich romantyków, jak sam siebie nazwał, wprowadził do światowej literatury polskie dylematy, rozterki i wątpliwości, a także tęsknoty i pragnienia. Conrad przeniósł polskie doświadczenie na poziom uniwersalny i takim owo doświadczenie również uczynił. Rozmaite relacje współczesnych ukazują, jak niejednokrotnie trudno było odnaleźć się Polakowi w anglosaskiej rzeczywistości, i z jakimi przeciwnościami musiał się zmierzyć.

The article presents Professor Andrzej Busza, a Conradian researcher, who is connected with the subject of his research, Joseph Conrad, by common experiences of alienation and growing into a different culture, life on the border of different worlds. Busza presents Conrad’s Polish heritage and its later influence on the writer’s work. Busza writes about Conrad ’s deep pessimism, which links the writer with contemporary Poles, as well as about Conrad’s popularity during the war and occupation, when“ fidelity becomes the greatest of virtues, and betrayal - the greatest crime” . Reframing belonging : affective localism and the early fiction of Reino Rinne

ABSTRACTThe early fiction of a novelist and journalist born in the north of Finland, Reino Rinne (1913–2002), is illustrative of the post-war interest in a redefinition of cultural belonging. The aim of this article is to offer a reading of Rinne’s works that throws light on the way they exemplify a post-war articulation of affective localism. What is especially characteristic of the affective localism produced in Rinne’s early fiction is the deployment of certain narrative elements, realism as an aesthetic regime, tropes of spatial belonging and historical myths that are endowed with affective charge. Denitrifikaatio ja DNRA (dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonium) ovat nitraattia pelkistäviä prosesseja, jotka yleensä esiintyvät hapettomissa olosuhteissa, kuten järvien sedimenteissä ja alusvesissä. Denitrifikaatiossa syntyy typpikaasua, joka poistuu ilmakehään, kun taas DNRA:n lopputuote on ammonium, joka jää veteen. Sediment diffusion method improves wastewater nitrogen removal in the receiving lake sediments

Sediment microbes have a great potential to transform reactive N to harmless N2, thus decreasing wastewater nitrogen load into aquatic ecosystems. Here, we examined if spatial allocation of the wastewater discharge by a specially constructed sediment diffuser pipe system enhanced the microbial nitrate reduction processes. Full-scale experiments were set on two Finnish lake sites, Keuruu and Petäjävesi, and effects on the nitrate removal processes were studied using the stable isotope pairing technique.
