Henstock type integral in harmonic analysis on zero-dimensional groups
2006
AbstractA Henstock type integral is defined on compact subsets of a locally compact zero-dimensional abelian group. This integral is applied to obtain an inversion formula for the multiplicative integral transform.
Integration of functions ranging in complex Riesz space and some applications in harmonic analysis
2015
The theory of HenstockâKurzweil integral is generalized to the case of functions ranging in complex Riesz space R and defined on any zero-dimensional compact Abelian group. The constructed integral is used to solve the problem of recovering the R-valued coefficients of series in systems of characters of these groups by using generalized Fourier formulas.
Ancient Haplotypes at the 15q24.2 Microdeletion Region Are Linked to Brain Expression of MAN2C1 and Children's Intelligence
2016
The chromosome bands 15q24.1-15q24.3 contain a complex region with numerous segmental duplications that predispose to regional microduplications and microdeletions, both of which have been linked to intellectual disability, speech delay and autistic features. The region may also harbour common inversion polymorphisms whose functional and phenotypic manifestations are unknown. Using single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) data, we detected four large contiguous haplotype-genotypes at 15q24 with Mendelian inheritance in 2,562 trios, African origin, high population stratification and reduced recombination rates. Although the haplotype-genotypes have been most likely generated by decreased or abse…
The equality case in a Poincaré–Wirtinger type inequality
2016
It is known that, for any convex planar set W, the first non-trivial Neumann eigenvalue μ1 (Ω) of the Hermite operator is greater than or equal to 1. Under the additional assumption that Ω is contained in a strip, we show that β1 (Ω) = 1 if and only if Ω is any strip. The study of the equality case requires, among other things, an asymptotic analysis of the eigenvalues of the Hermite operator in thin domains.
Products of Bessel functions and associated polynomials
2013
The symbolic method is used to get explicit formulae for the products or powers of Bessel functions and for the relevant integrals.
The discretized harmonic oscillator: Mathieu functions and a new class of generalized Hermite polynomials
2003
We present a general, asymptotical solution for the discretised harmonic oscillator. The corresponding Schr\"odinger equation is canonically conjugate to the Mathieu differential equation, the Schr\"odinger equation of the quantum pendulum. Thus, in addition to giving an explicit solution for the Hamiltonian of an isolated Josephon junction or a superconducting single-electron transistor (SSET), we obtain an asymptotical representation of Mathieu functions. We solve the discretised harmonic oscillator by transforming the infinite-dimensional matrix-eigenvalue problem into an infinite set of algebraic equations which are later shown to be satisfied by the obtained solution. The proposed ansa…
A remarkable equality referring to spline functions in Hilbert spaces
2010
In the introduction of this paper is presented the definition of the generalized spline functions as solutions of a variational problem and are shown some theorems regarding to the existence and uniqueness. The main result of this article consists in a remarkable equality verified by the generalized spline elements, based on the properties of the spaces, operator and interpolatory set involved, which can be used as a characterization theorem of the generalized spline functions in Hilbert spaces.
VLTI/AMBER spectro-interferometry of the late-type supergiants V766 Cen (=HR 5171 A), σ Oph, BM Sco, and HD 206859
2017
Aims. We add four warmer late-type supergiants to our previous spectro-interferometric studies of red giants and supergiants. Methods. We measure the near-continuum angular diameter, derive fundamental parameters, discuss the evolutionary stage, and study extended atmospheric atomic and molecular layers. Results. V766 Cen (=HR 5171 A) is found to be a high-luminosity (log L/L = 5.8 ± 0.4) source of effective temperature 4290 ± 760 K and radius 1490 ± 540 R, located in the Hertzsprung-Russell (HR) diagram close to both the Hayashi limit and Eddington limit; this source is consistent with a 40 M evolutionary track without rotation and current mass 27-36 M. V766 Cen exhibits Na i in emission a…
Are most of the stationary points in a molecular association minima? Application of Fraga's potential to benzene-benzene
1993
The importance of characterizing the stationary points of the intermolecular potential by means of Hessian eigenvalues is illustrated for the calculation of the benzene–benzene interaction using an atom-to-atom pair potential proposed by Fraga (FAAP). Two models, the standard one-center-per atom and another using three-centers-per atom due to Hunter and Sanders, are used to evaluate the electrostatic contributions and the results are compared. It is found in both cases that although using low-gradient thresholds allows optimization procedures to avoid many stationary points that are not true minima computing time considerations makes the usual procedure of using high-gradient thresholds [sa…
