Sine-Gordon Statistical Mechanics

1984

The Classical partition-function $$ Z = \int {D\Pi {\text{ }}D\phi {\text{ }}\exp - } \beta H\left[ \phi \right]$$ (1) in which \( {\beta ^{{ - 1}}} = {k_{B}}T{\text{ and }}H\left[ \phi \right]\) is the sine-Gordon (s-G) Hamiltonian $$ H\left[ \phi \right] = {\Upsilon _{0}}^{{ - 1}}\int {\left[ {\frac{1}{2}{\Upsilon _{0}}^{2}{\Pi ^{2}} + \frac{1}{2}{\phi _{z}}^{2} + {m^{2}}\left( {1 - \cos \phi } \right)} \right]} dz $$ (2) has been evaluated by transfer integral methods [1,2].

Fourier-transform spectroscopy and coupled-channels deperturbation treatment of theA 1Σ+–b 3Πcomplex of KCs

2010

The laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) A {sup 1{Sigma}+}-b {sup 3{Pi}{yields}}X {sup 1{Sigma}+} spectra of the KCs molecule were recorded in a near infrared region by a Fourier-transform spectrometer with a resolution of 0.03 cm{sup -1}. Overall more than 200 collisionally enhanced LIF spectra were rotationally assigned to {sup 39}K{sup 133}Cs and {sup 41}K{sup 133}Cs isotopomers yielding more than 3400 rovibronic term values of the strongly mixed singlet A {sup 1{Sigma}+} and triplet b {sup 3{Pi}} states with the uncertainty of 0.003-0.01 cm{sup -1}. Experimental data massive starts from the lowest vibrational level v{sub A}=0 of the singlet and nonuniformly covers the energy range E is an e…

Absence of mutual polariton scattering for strongly coupled surface plasmon polaritons and dye molecules with a large Stokes shift

2013

The understanding and control of the dynamics of hybrid modes consisting of strongly coupled surface plasmon polaritons and molecular excitations of dye molecules is of great timely interest, as it allows one to tailor interactions between optical signals as needed for active all-optical devices. Here we utilize dye molecules with an especially large Stokes shift to demonstrate the absence of mutual scatterings among the strongly coupled hybrid modes. We employ a quantum mechanical three-level model and show that the hybrid modes decay via dephasing and internal relaxation of the molecules to a fluorescing state of the dye, which can be used as a measure for the decay. Our results provide e…

Lifetime Measurements with the Doppler Shift Attenuation Method Using a Thick Homogeneous Production Target — Verification of the Method

2016

International audience; Doppler Shift Attenuation Method (DSAM) analysis of excited-state lifetimes normally employs thin production targets mounted on a thick stopper foil (“backing”) serving to slow down and stop the recoiling nuclei of interest in a well-defined manner. Use of a thick, homogeneous production target leads to a more complex analysis as it results in a substantial decrease in the energy of the incident projectile which traverses the target with an associated change in the production cross section of the residues as a function of penetration depth. Here, a DSAM lifetime analysis using a thick homogeneous target has been verified using the Doppler broadened lineshapes of γ ra…

Transverse distribution of beam current oscillations of a 14 GHz electron cyclotron resonance ion source

2014

The temporal stability of oxygen ion beams has been studied with the 14 GHz A-ECR at JYFL (University of Jyvaskyla, Department of Physics). A sector Faraday cup was employed to measure the distribution of the beam current oscillations across the beam profile. The spatial and temporal characteristics of two different oscillation “modes” often observed with the JYFL 14 GHz ECRIS are discussed. It was observed that the low frequency oscillations below 200 Hz are distributed almost uniformly. In the high frequency oscillation “mode,” with frequencies >300 Hz at the core of the beam, carrying most of the current, oscillates with smaller amplitude than the peripheral parts of the beam. The result…

Mean-Field Calculation Based on Proton-Neutron Mixed Energy Density Functionals

2015

We have performed calculations based on the Skyrme energy density functional (EDF) that includes arbitrary mixing between protons and neutrons. In this framework, single-particle states are generalized as mixtures of proton and neutron components. The model assumes that the Skyrme EDF is invariant under the rotation in isospin space and the Coulomb force is the only source of the isospin symmetry breaking. To control the isospin of the system, we employ the isocranking method, which is analogous to the standard cranking approach used for describing high-spin states. Here, we present results of the isocranking calculations performed for the isobaric analog states in A = 40 and A = 54 nuclei.

Detuning-induced robustness of a three-state Landau-Zener model against dissipation

2019

A three-state system subjected to a time-dependent Hamiltonian whose bare energies undergo one or more crossings, depending on the relevant parameters, is considered, also taking into account the role of dissipation in the adiabatic following of the Hamiltonian eigenstates. Depending on the fact that the bare energies are equidistant or not, the relevant population transfer turns out to be very sensitive to the environmental interaction or relatively robust. The physical mechanisms on the basis of this behavior are discussed in detail.

Verhulst model with Lévy white noise excitation

2008

The transient dynamics of the Verhulst model perturbed by arbitrary non-Gaussian white noise is investigated. Based on the infinitely divisible distribution of the Levy process we study the nonlinear relaxation of the population density for three cases of white non-Gaussian noise: (i) shot noise, (ii) noise with a probability density of increments expressed in terms of Gamma function, and (iii) Cauchy stable noise. We obtain exact results for the probability distribution of the population density in all cases, and for Cauchy stable noise the exact expression of the nonlinear relaxation time is derived. Moreover starting from an initial delta function distribution, we find a transition induc…

Chemically selective imaging of overlapping C-H stretching vibrations with time-resolved coherent anti-stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy.

2014

Chemically selective imaging of spectrally overlapping compounds is studied with a time-resolved, femtosecond approach on coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy taking advantage of time-dependent oscillating CARS amplitude which is sensitive to different chemical components at different time points. Chemically selective imaging is demonstrated for composite material of polypropylene (PP) matrix and om-POSS (octamethyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane) microparticles having partly overlapping CH stretching vibrations. Inverse Fourier transformation (IFT) was applied to Raman spectra of PP and om-POSS, indicating that the oscillatory structures of the vibrational decays d…
