Feuilletages Riemanniens singuliers

2006

Abstract We prove that a singular foliation on a compact manifold admitting an adapted Riemannian metric for which all leaves are minimal must be regular. To cite this article: V. Miquel, R.A. Wolak, C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris, Ser. I 342 (2006).

Dirichlet approximation and universal Dirichlet series

2016

We characterize the uniform limits of Dirichlet polynomials on a right half plane. In the Dirichlet setting, we find approximation results, with respect to the Euclidean distance and {to} the chordal one as well, analogous to classical results of Runge, Mergelyan and Vitushkin. We also strengthen the notion of universal Dirichlet series.

Flat lightlike hypersurfaces in Lorentz–Minkowski 4-space

2009

Abstract The lightlike hypersurfaces in Lorentz–Minkowski space are of special interest in Relativity Theory. In particular, the singularities of these hypersurfaces provide good models for the study of different horizon types. We introduce the notion of flatness for these hypersurfaces and study their singularities. The classification result asserts that a generic classification of flat lightlike hypersurfaces is quite different from that of generic lightlike hypersurfaces.

On the inverse absolute continuity of quasiconformal mappings on hypersurfaces

2018

We construct quasiconformal mappings $f\colon \mathbb{R}^{3} \rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{3}$ for which there is a Borel set $E \subset \mathbb{R}^2 \times \{0\}$ of positive Lebesgue $2$-measure whose image $f(E)$ has Hausdorff $2$-measure zero. This gives a solution to the open problem of inverse absolute continuity of quasiconformal mappings on hypersurfaces, attributed to Gehring. By implication, our result also answers questions of V\"ais\"al\"a and Astala--Bonk--Heinonen.

Rigged Hilbert spaces and contractive families of Hilbert spaces

2013

The existence of a rigged Hilbert space whose extreme spaces are, respectively, the projective and the inductive limit of a directed contractive family of Hilbert spaces is investigated. It is proved that, when it exists, this rigged Hilbert space is the same as the canonical rigged Hilbert space associated to a family of closable operators in the central Hilbert space.

Cohomology and Deformation of Leibniz Pairs

1995

Cohomology and deformation theories are developed for Poisson algebras starting with the more general concept of a Leibniz pair, namely of an associative algebra $A$ together with a Lie algebra $L$ mapped into the derivations of $A$. A bicomplex (with both Hochschild and Chevalley-Eilenberg cohomologies) is essential.

Existence of minimizers for eigenvalues of the Dirichlet-Laplacian with a drift

2015

Abstract This paper deals with the eigenvalue problem for the operator L = − Δ − x ⋅ ∇ with Dirichlet boundary conditions. We are interested in proving the existence of a set minimizing any eigenvalue λ k of L under a suitable measure constraint suggested by the structure of the operator. More precisely we prove that for any c > 0 and k ∈ N the following minimization problem min ⁡ { λ k ( Ω ) : Ω quasi-open set , ∫ Ω e | x | 2 / 2 d x ≤ c } has a solution.

Holomorphic Functions on Polydiscs

2019

This is a short introduction to the theory of holomorphic functions in finitely and infinitely many variables. We begin with functions in finitely many variables, giving the definition of holomorphic function. Every such function has a monomial series expansion, where the coefficients are given by a Cauchy integral formula. Then we move to infinitely many variables, considering functions defined on B_{c0}, the open unit ball of the space of null sequences. Holomorphic functions are defined by means of Frechet differentiability. We have versions of Weierstrass and Montel theorems in this setting. Every holomorphic function on B_{c0} defines a family of coefficients through a Cauchy integral …

On the presence of families of pseudo-bosons in nilpotent Lie algebras of arbitrary corank

2019

We have recently shown that pseudo-bosonic operators realize concrete examples of finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebras over the complex field. It has been the first time that such operators were analyzed in terms of nilpotent Lie algebras (under prescribed conditions of physical character). On the other hand, the general classification of a finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebra $\mathfrak{l}$ may be given via the size of its Schur multiplier involving the so-called corank $t(\mathfrak{l})$ of $\mathfrak{l}$. We represent $\mathfrak{l}$ by pseudo-bosonic ladder operators for $t(\mathfrak{l}) \le 6$ and this allows us to represent $\mathfrak{l}$ when its dimension is $\le 5$.
