The presence of pulsations in late-type Be stars is still a matter of controversy. It constitutes an important issue to establish the relationship between non-radial pulsations and the mass-loss mechanism in Be stars. To contribute to this discussion, we analyse the photometric time series of the B8IVe star HD 50209 observed by the CoRoT mission in the seismology field. We use standard Fourier techniques and linear and non-linear least squares fitting methods to analyse the CoRoT light curve. In addition, we applied detailed modelling of high-resolution spectra to obtain the fundamental physical parameters of the star. This paper addresses the construction of a novel efficient rotation-invariant texture retrieval method that is based on the alignment in angle of signatures obtained via a steerable sub-Gaussian model. In our proposed scheme, we first construct a steerable multivariate sub-Gaussian model, where the fractional lower-order moments of a given image are associated with those of its rotated versions. Spherical nonlinear correlations for global invariant three-dimensional object recognition

We define a nonlinear filtering based on correlations on unit spheres to obtain both rotation- and scale-invariant three-dimensional (3D) object detection. Tridimensionality is expressed in terms of range images. The phase Fourier transform (PhFT) of a range image provides information about the orientations of the 3D object surfaces. When the object is sequentially rotated, the amplitudes of the different PhFTs form a unit radius sphere. On the other hand, a scale change is equivalent to a multiplication of the amplitude of the PhFT by a constant factor. Highly textured boron/nitrogen co-doped TiO2 with honeycomb structure showing enhanced visible-light photoelectrocatalytic activity

International audience; In this work, we report a novel photocatalyst based on boron and nitrogen co-doped TiO2 rutile (1 1 0) honeycomb structures. The photocatalyst has been prepared by simultaneously oxidizing and doping a Ti-foil substrate at 750 degrees C. The unit cell volume and the crystallite size of grown TiO2 films were measured by Rietveld refinement analysis. The co-doping by boron and nitrogen was achieved simultaneously with the oxidation of the titanium, resulting in a rutile (1 1 0) textured TiO2 film. Collisional shifting and broadening coefficients for the rovibrational anisotropic S(J) lines of nitrogen studied by inverse Raman spectroscopy

0377-0486; Line shifting and broadening coefficients of the anisotropic S(J) lines (v = 0, J --> v = 1, J + 2) of the nitrogen molecule were measured at room temperature using high-resolution stimulated Raman spectroscopy. A rotational quantum number dependence of the S(J) line shifts was observed. In order to avoid an asymmetry of experimental origin, a suitable theoretical profile was fitted to the experimental lineshapes. Broadband stimulated Raman backscattering

International audience; Broadband amplification employing stimulated Raman backscattering is demonstrated. Using seed pulses with a bandwidth of about 200 nm, we study the amplification in a wide spectral range in a single laser shot. With chirped pump pulses and a Ne gas jet, we observed under optimized conditions, amplification in a range of about 80 nm, which is sufficient to support the amplification of sub-20 fs pulses. This broad amplification range is also in excellent agreement with PIC simulations. The conversion efficiency is at certain wavelengths as high as 1.2% and was measured to be better than 6×10 −3 on average.
A modal approach for the evaluation of the response sensitivity of structural systems subjected to non-stationary random processes

A method for the evaluation of the response sensitivity of both classically and non-classically damped discrete linear structural systems under stochastic actions is presented. Charge transfer in high-Tc(Y/Pr)Ba2Cu3O7superlattices

We comment on the charge-transfer model for the unique softening of the apex [O(4)] oxygen observed in Raman spectra of a- and c-oriented (${\mathrm{YBa}}_{2}$${\mathrm{Cu}}_{3}$${\mathrm{O}}_{7}$${)}_{\mathit{m}}$(${\mathrm{PrBa}}_{2}$${\mathrm{Cu}}_{3}$${\mathrm{O}}_{7}$${)}_{\mathit{n}}$ superlattices presented in a recent paper by Ham et al. [Phys. Rev. B 50, 16 598 (1994)]. We find the size of the charge transfer necessary for the observed shift too large to explain the observations. In addition, a conclusion about the unique behavior of both types of superlattices can only be drawn if the sample quality is properly considered. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
