Non-linear optical study of hierarchical 3D Al doped ZnO nanosheet arrays deposited by successive ionic adsorption and reaction method

2020

Abstract Successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method is based on the adsorption and reaction of the ions in the cationic solution and the ionic solution, respectively. This method is simple, inexpensive, large-scale deposition, effective way for deposition on 3D substrates, low-temperature process and represents an easy way for the preparation of doped, composite and heterojunction materials. To take advantage of this method and the ZnO nanostructures, various parameters have been optimized. Undoped and Aluminum (Al) doped ZnO nanostructures were prepared by the SILAR technique. The characterization of the nanostructures prepared was carried out using X-ray diffraction (XR…

Enhanced optical response of InSe nanosheet devices decorated with CsPbX3 (X = I, Br) perovskite nanocrystals

2021

Abstract The combination of several two-dimensional materials opens the door for the creation of cooperative nanodevices with functionalities that complement to each other and even compensate the weaknesses of the individual components. Two-dimensional indium selenide (InSe) shows one of the largest tunability bandgap found in two-dimensional materials with application in optoelectronics. However, the intrinsic out-of-plane luminescent dipolar nature limits its implementation in devices operating in vertical configuration. All-inorganic CsPbX3 (X = Br, I) cubic nanoparticles offer high absorption and emission quantum yields and great integrability with two-dimensional materials. Combining t…

Redox-Responsive and Thermoresponsive Supramolecular Nanosheet Gels with High Young's Moduli

2018

Supramolecular gels made from 2D building blocks are emerging as one of the novel multifunctional soft materials for various applications. This study reports on a class of supramolecular nanosheet gels formed through a reversible self-assembly process involving both intramolecular folding and intermolecular self-assembly of poly[oligo(ethylene glycol)-co-(phenyl-capped bithiophenes)]. Such hierarchical self-assembled structure allows the gels to switch between sol and gel states under either redox or thermostimulus. Moreover, the gels illustrate high Young's moduli, compared to their controls that are made from the same oligo(ethylene glycol) and phenyl-capped bithiophenes blocks but have h…

Impact of graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets in mixed- matrix membranes for removal of heavy metals from water

2021

International audience; Removal of heavy metal ions from water is being a challenge and Polysulfone (PSf) membranes have shown great potential to remove them from contaminated solutions. In this work, the introduction of Graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets (g-C3N4) into PSf membranes was implemented to improve the permeability and separation performance of PSf membranes. g-C3N4 was incorporated into the membrane matrix via nonsolvent induced phase inversion method. The prepared mixed matrix membranes showed enhanced performances towards water filtration. The incorporation of g-C3N4 into the membrane matrix caused an increase in the desired physicochemical properties like hydrophilicity and …

Hybrid magnetic materials based on layered double hydroxides: from the chemistry towards the applications

2014

Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are the leitmotiv of this dissertation. Contradicting the assertion that “any past was better”, LDHs have been continuously revisited from the middle of the twentieth century, and represent an excellent example of the never-ending beauty of Chemistry. New synthetic perspectives are giving a new impetus to LDH chemistry, which among hybrid materials, are finding their heyday. This is resulting in novel materials and also paving the way for new fundamental and practical insights. This dissertation is focused on magnetic LDHs, and for the sake of clarity it is organized in three main parts: we will move from basic synthetic and physical aspects of LDHs, through…

Codeposition of Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles sandwiched between g-C3N4 and TiO2 nanosheets: Structure, characterization and high photocatalytic activity fo…

2019

Novel ternary nanocomposite photocatalysts based on g-C3N4 /Fe3O4 /TiO2 nanosheet were synthesized using simple solid combustion, hydrothermal and wetness impregnation methods. The g-C3N4 nanosheet (2D)/ Fe3O4 /TiO2 nanosheet (2D) triad-interface nanocomposite arranged in the form of Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticle was sandwiched and effectively dispersed on the surface between g-C3N4 and TiO2 nanosheets. The synthesized composites were characterized by some specific techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, field emission scanning electronic microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), specific su…

Illustrating the processability of magnetic layered double hydroxides: layer-by-layer assembly of magnetic ultrathin films.

2013

We report the preparation of single-layer layered double hydroxide (LDH) two-dimensional (2D) nanosheets by exfoliation of highly crystalline NiAl-NO3 LDH. Next, these unilamellar moieties have been incorporated layer-by-layer (LbL) into a poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate)/LDH nanosheet multilayer ultrathin film (UTF). Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), ultraviolet-visible light (UV-vis), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) profiles have been used to follow the uniform growth of the UTF. The use of a magnetic LDH as the cationic component of the multilayered architecture enables study of the resulting magnetic properties of the UTFs. Our magnetic data show the appearance of spontaneous …

Organic nanosheets with charged surface: two dimensional self-assembly of a non-symmetric bis-acylurea with pyridyl end group

2011

We present a novel non-symmetric bis-acylurea that self-assembles into two dimensional nanosheet superstructures. The bis-acylurea (PyrC8Bn) has a pyridyl and a benzyl end group divided by a spacer group [–NHCONHCO–(CH2)8–CONHCONH–, C8] with two hydrogen bonding sites. Upon cooling a hot solution in ethanol, the molecule self-assembles into multilayered nanosheet structures due to the intermolecular biaxial hydrogen bonding. The surface charge of the nanosheets could be switched between positive and neutral by adjusting the pH. The charged character of the nanosheets was utilized in immobilizing negatively charged gold nanoparticles. An attempt to regulate the self-assembly allowed us to fi…

Ultrathin Films of 2D Hofmann-Type Coordination Polymers: Influence of Pillaring Linkers on Structural Flexibility and Vertical Charge Transport

2019

Searching for novel materials and controlling their nanostructuration into electronic devices is a challenging task ahead of chemists and chemical engineers. Even more so when this new application requires an exquisite control over the morphology, crystallinity, roughness and orientation of the films produced. In this context, it is of critical importance to analyze the influence of the chemical composition of perspective materials on their properties at the nanoscale. We report the fabrication of ultrathin films (thickness < 30 nm) of a family of FeII Hofmann-like coordination polymers by using an optimized liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) set-up. The series [Fe(L)2{Pt(CN)4}] (L = pyridine, pyri…

Guest-Induced Folding and Self-Assembly of Conformationally Adaptive Macrocycles into Nanosheets and Nanotubes

2017

A conformationally adaptive macrocycle is presented, namely zorb[4]arene, which exists in multiple conformations in the uncomplexed state. The binding cavity of zorb[4]arene is concealed, either due to a collapsed conformation or by self-inclusion. The zorb[4]arene with long alkyl chains manifests itself with surprisingly low melting point and thus exist as an oil at room temperature. Binding of a guest molecule induces the folding and conformational rigidity of zorb[4]arene and leads to well-defined three-dimensional structures, which can further self-assemble into nanosheets or nanotubes upon solvent evaporation, depending on guest molecules and the conformations they can induce.
