Slow release oral morphine versus methadone for the treatment of opioid use disorder
2019
ObjectiveTo assess the efficacy of slow release oral morphine (SROM) as a treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD).DesignSystematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials (RCTs).Data sourcesThree electronic databases were searched through 1 May 2018: the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, MEDLINE and EMBASE. We also searched the following electronic registers for ongoing trials: ClinicalTrials.gov, WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform, Current Controlled Trials and the EU Clinical Trials Register.Eligibility criteria for selecting studiesWe included RCTs of all durations, assessing the effect of SROM on measures of treatment retention, heroin use…
Memantine does not block antiaggressive effects of morphine in mice.
2002
The action of the noncompetitive N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor blocker memantine (5, 10, 20 and 40 mg/kg) was evaluated during social encounters in mice. Although a dose-dependent increase in locomotion was observed, only with the highest dose did it reach statistical significance. Aggressive behavior was decreased with 20 and 40 mg/kg of memantine, social contacts being increased only with 20 mg/kg. Subsequently, the effect of these memantine doses on the antiaggressive actions of morphine (10 mg/kg) was evaluated. None of the doses affected the antiaggressive action of morphine. As memantine administration produced an antiaggressive effect only at doses that affected locomotion, it…
Standardisert avrusning ved blandingsmisbruk : standardisering av benzodiazepinfri avgiftning ved blandingsmisbruk; gjennomførbarhet og sikkerhet
2016
Masteroppgave psykisk helsearbeid ME504 - Universitetet i Agder 2016 The background for this project is an internal quality survey from 2013 at the Detoxification Unit of Sørlandet hospital. In recent decades the pattern of substance use among patients admitted for detoxification has changed from predominantly single-substance abuse to simultaneous multi-substance abuse. The evidence base for medication-assisted pharmacological treatment of polydrug users remains inadequate. A non-experimental cohort study was conducted with 284 polydrug users in the Detoxification Unit of Sørlandet Hospital in 2013. The therapeutic approach was standardised, and was based on social environmental therapy an…
