Modelling forest decline using SMOS soil moisture and vegetation optical depth

Global change is increasing the risk of forest decline worldwide, impacting carbon and water cycles. Hence, there is an urgent need for predicting forest decline occurrence. To that purpose, this study links forest decline events in Catalonia, detected by the DEBOSCAT forest monitoring program, with information from the Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) satellite. El presente trabajo aborda algunos supuestos de responsabilidad que pueden plantearse en el ámbito de la navegación marítima y que el legislador español ha recogido en esta Ley The spanish Law of Maritime Navigation has reformed widely the spanish Maritime Law, regulatin practically all the aspects of the navigation, both public and privates. This paper approaches some suppositions of responsibility that can appear in the maritime navigation and that the spanish legislator has gathered in this Law.

Relationship between the acid and limonin content of Washington Navel orange juices

Juice samples of Washington Navel oranges from three groves were analysed for limonin, °Brix and acid during several seasons. A strong correlation between limonin and acid content has been found.
Tentacle-shaped mesh for fixation-free repair of umbilical hernias

Purpose: Mesh fixation and broad overlap represent an open issue in umbilical hernia repair. A proprietary-designed implant with tentacle straps at its boundary has been developed to ensure a suture-free repair and a broader coverage of the abdominal wall. The study describes the results of umbilical hernia procedures carried out with the tentacle-shaped implant and the related surgical technique. Este artículo tiene por objeto reflexionar acerca la relación de las TIC con la condición de discapacidad autista y el acceso a la educación. Así mismo, plantea recomendaciones a la hora de integrar herramientas tecnológicas en el contexto escolar del niño autista, presentando al final un recorrido por software y buscadores apropiados para población infantil autista, los cuales pueden ser incorporados en el aula de clase, y que a su vez podrían ser útiles para otras poblaciones.
