Abstract Orientational glasses, produced by random dilution of molecular crystals, exhibit a freezing transition of the quadrupole moments. Monte Carlo simulations of lattice models (generalization of the Edwards–Anderson spin glass model) have been used to elucidate this behavior. While short range models exhibit a static glass transition at zero temperature only, the infinite range Potts glass exhibits a transition where a glass order parameter appears discontinuously. At higher temperature, a dynamical transition occurs, described by mode-coupling theory (MCT). La didáctica de la Geografía se transforma en educación ciudadana por medio de las redes sociales, una aspiración que se ha gestado desde el año 2009. La colaboración de las personas de un lado y otro del Océano Atlántico nos permitirá definir con más rigor y precisión los desafíos de la formación docente en los próximos años.

The abrupt change of loudness is a salient event that is not always expected by a music listener. Therefore loudness is an important cue when seeking for events in a music stream that could violate human expectations. The concept of expectation and surprise in music has become recently the subject of extensive research, however mostly using symbolic data. A Non-Local Mode-I Cohesive Model for Ascending Thoracic Aorta Dissections (ATAD)

This paper presents a non-local interface mechanical model to describe aortic dissection. In this regard, the mode-I debonding problem based on a cohesive zone modeling is endowed with non-local terms to include long-range interactions that are present in multi-layered biological tissue. Such non-local effects are related to the collagen fibers that transmit forces between non-adjacent elements. Numerical simulations are provided with different values of the non-local parameters in order to show the effect of the non-locality during the debonding processes.
