The aim of this work was to compare experimental investigations on effects of lidocaine, calcium and, BRL 34915 on reentries to simulated data obtained by use of a model of propagation based on the Huygens' construction method already described in previous works. Calcium and lidocaine effects are investigated on anisotropic conduction conditions. In both cases, reduction in conduction velocities are observed. In lidocaine case, a refractory area is located along the longitudinal axis. Sexual Compulsivity Scale: Adaptation and Validation in the Spanish Population

Sexual compulsivity has been studied in relation to high-risk behavior for sexually transmitted infections. The aim of this study was the adaptation and validation of the Sexual Compulsivity Scale to a sample of Spanish young people. This scale was applied to 1,196 (891 female, 305 male) Spanish college students. The results of principal components factor analysis using a varimax rotation indicated a two-factor solution. The reliability of the Sexual Compulsivity Scale was found to be high. Moreover, the scale showed good temporal stability. External correlates were examined through Pearson correlations between the Sexual Compulsivity Scale and other constructs related with HIV prevention. …

In this study, we investigated the possibility of using the droplet-vitrification technique for cryopreserving nodal segments of in vitro plantlets of the endangered plant species Lithodora rosmarinifolia. Among the three vitrification solutions tested, only solutions B1, containing (w/v) 50 % glycerol and 50 % sucrose, and B3, containing 40 % glycerol and 40 % sucrose, were able to induce cryotolerance in nodal explants, resulting in intermediate survival and recovery after cryopreservation. ABSTRACT The influence of morphology, composition and crystallographic structure on the photoelectrochemical behaviour of anodic oxide films on tungsten obtained in various conditions of anodization has been investigated. Different photocurrent spectra and absorption edges were obtained for each type of film. Optical band gaps ranging between 2.55 eV and 3.15 eV were determined for crystalline and amorphous WO 3 films grown in different conditions. The low quantum efficiency of the anodic films must be attributed to the presence of an amorphous (a-W0 3 ) film which controls the transport of the injected photocarriers.

Although the majority of hybrid melon fields in the Sicilian countryside are nowadays irrigated, many farmers are still growing melon landraces without irrigation. Akromegālija ir reta endokrīna saslimšana, kas raksturojas ar paaugstinātu STH un IGF-1 sekrēciju. Zināms, ka akromegālijas slimniekiem ir paaugstināts audzēju risks. 54-65% akromegālijas pacientiem ir nodoza struma. Pēc literatūras datiem 5-10% mezglu ir maligni, kas liek domāt, ka arī vairogdziedzera vēža risks akromegālijas pacientiem ir lielāks. Literatūrā ir dažādi pētījumi, kuros ir minēta cukura diabēta (CD) saistība ar audzējiem. Glikozes regulācijas traucējumi ir bieža akromegālijas blakus slimība un ir maz pētījumu par to lomu vairogdziedzera patoloģiju attīstībā.
