X-ray Absorption under Operating Conditions for Solid-Oxide Fuel Cells Electrocatalysts: The Case of LSCF/YSZ
2019
We describe a novel electrochemical cell for X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) experiments during electrical polarization suitable for high-temperature materials such as those used in solid oxide fuel cells. A half-cell LSCF/YSZ was then investigated under cathodic and anodic conditions (850 °
Mikroservisa autorizēšanās sistēma balstīta uz XACML standartu
2017
A Shock to the System: HIV among Older African Women in Zimbabwe
2018
HIV remains a threat to the ordinary everyday life of older woman in African society. In what can be called “a reality shock,” HIV challenges most of the ordinary everyday endeavors in conservative African societies as it imposes new Western prevention, treatment, and health-management methods over long-held African traditions. The reality of the “Western” HIV epidemic, and its impact on the “African” ordinary everyday life, demands that the infected undergo a paradigm shift in order for them to live harmoniously within their society. This calls for a re-examination of traditional values and a strong sense of responsibility, courage, and determination to remain relevant and not be considere…
Spectroscopic response and charge transport properties of CdZnTe detectors grown by the vertical Bridgman technique
2015
In this work, we present the results of spectroscopic investigations on CdZnTe (CZT) detectors grown by the boron oxide encapsulated vertical Bridgman technique (1MEM-CNR, Parma, Italy). The detectors, with different thicknesses (1 and 2.5 mm), are characterized by the same electrode layout (gold electroless contacts): the anode is a central electrode (2 x 2 mm(2)) surrounded by a guard-ring electrode, while the cathode is a planar electrode covering the detector surface (4.1 x 4.1 mm(2)). The results of electrical investigations point out the low leakage currents of these detectors even at high bias voltages: 38 nA/cm(2) (T = 25 degrees C) at 10000 V/cm. The time stability and the spectros…
A phenomenological approach to the mechanical breakdown of anodic oxide films on zirconium
1986
Abstract A phenomenological theory of the mechanical breakdown of films growing on valve metals during galvanostatic oxidation is presented and discussed in detail for ZrO2 anodic films. It is shown that the mechanical breakdown voltage, Vmb, can be linearly related to the logarithm of the anodizing current density both in the case of constant and variable critical thickness, Lc, at which the breakdown occurs. It is also shown that the Amb and Bmb parameters of the relationship: Vmb = Amb + Bmb log i are strictly related to the kinetic parameters of growth of the films in the different solutions. The expressions of Amb and Bmb parameters are derived for films grown in the presence as well a…
Unfolding of saddle-nodes and their Dulac time
2016
Altres ajuts: UNAB10-4E-378, co-funded by ERDF "A way to build Europe" and by the French ANR-11-BS01-0009 STAAVF. In this paper we study unfoldings of saddle-nodes and their Dulac time. By unfolding a saddle-node, saddles and nodes appear. In the first result (Theorem A) we give a uniform asymptotic expansion of the trajectories arriving at the node. Uniformity is with respect to all parameters including the unfolding parameter bringing the node to a saddle-node and a parameter belonging to a space of functions. In the second part, we apply this first result for proving a regularity result (Theorem B) on the Dulac time (time of Dulac map) of an unfolding of a saddle-node. This result is a b…
Manufacturing and characterization of single cell intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells for APU in transportation application
2014
The fabrications of large area IT-SOFC planar cell by new simple and cost effective process were explained. The optimization of the new process with respect to pore formers, thickness of layers, sintering temperature were performed. The electrochemical results of 10cm2 performed in Fiaxell open flange set up were detailed with respect to different configuration. Long term ageing performance tests of single cells were conducted in Fiaxell device and results are discussed. Preparation of new test bench and stacking process performed till now were briefed.
Visualizing linguistic variation in a network of Latin documents and scribes
2018
This article explores whether and how network visualization can benefit philological and historical-linguistic study. This is illustrated with a corpus-based investigation of scribes' language use in a lemmatized and morphologically annotated corpus of documentary Latin (Late Latin Charter Treebank, LLCT2). We extract four continuous linguistic variables from LLCT2 and utilize a gradient colour palette in Gephi to visualize the variable values as node attributes in a trimodal network which consists of the documents, writers, and writing locations underlying the same corpus. We call this network the "LLCT2 network". The geographical coordinates of the location nodes form an approximate map, …
On the Effect of Surface Treatment to Improve Oxidation Resistance and Conductivity of Metallic Interconnects for SOFC in Operating Conditions
2008
International audience; Due to the reduction of operating temperature from 1000°C to 800°C, chromia forming alloys are the best candidates for interconnects in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs). These interconnects have to be operational in service conditions, at 800°C in air (cathode side) and in humidified hydrogen (anode side). The performance of the interconnect stainless steels is limited by the oxide scale formation (chromia), the low electronic conductivity of this scale and the possible volatility of chromium oxides. In the field of high temperature oxidation of metals, it is well known that the addition of a nanometric layer made of reactive element oxide such as, La2O3, Nd2O3 and Y2O…
Elaboration and interfacial reactivity of Lanthanum Strontium Chromium Ruthenium (LSCrRu) perovskite oxides as intermediate temperature fuel cell (IT…
2005
New data on the interest of ruthenium doped lanthanum strontium chromite La1-xSrxCr1-yRuyO3δ (LSCrRu) as anode in ITSOFC are presented. Microwave synthesis of mixed oxides allowed shaping of half-cells and complete cells using sputtering and screen printing methods. LSCrRu methane reforming property had been studied in a mono-chamber system coupled with a mass spectrometer in collaboration with Institut de REcherche Hydro-Québec. Anode/electrolyte interfacial reactivity had been analysed using SIMS and XRD on half cells models after ageing under H2 at 800°C. This experiment gave the chemical composition of the film after treatment. Complete cells, tested under working conditions, highlight…
