Advantages of monolithic over particulate columns for multiresidue analysis of organic pollutants by in-tube solid-phase microextraction coupled to c…

2011

Abstract The performance of a monolithic C 18 column (150 mm × 0.2 mm i.d.) for multiresidue organic pollutants analysis by in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME)-capillary liquid chromatography has been studied, and the results have been compared with those obtained using a particulate C 18 column (150 mm × 0.5 mm i.d., 5 μm). Chromatographic separation has been carried out under isocratic elution conditions, and for detection and identification of the analytes a UV-diode array detector has been employed. Several compounds of different chemical structure and hydrophobicity have been used as model compounds: simazine, atrazine and terbutylazine (triazines), chlorfenvinphos and chlorp…

In-tube solid-phase microextraction and liquid chromatography using a monolithic column for the selective determination of residual ethylenediamine i…

2009

The selective determination of the diamine ethylenediamine (EDA) in the presence of a higher amount of residual dimethylamine in cationic polymers has been developed. The strategy uses both a solution derivatization with a selective agent of primary amines such as o-phthaldialdehyde-N-acetyl-L-cysteine (OPA-NAC) and an in-tube solid-phase microextraction (IT-SPME) coupled to liquid chromatography (LC). A 70 cm long, 0.32 mm internal diameter, and 3 microm thick commercially available capillary column coated with 95% polydimethylsiloxane and 5% polydiphenylsiloxane was employed to replace the injection loop of a Rheodyne injection valve. A volume of 1 mL of derivatized sample was passed thro…

High resolution 80Se(n,γ) cross section measurement at CERN n_TOF and development of the novel i-TED detection system

2022

Quasifractal planar microstrip resonators for microwave circuits

1999

We propose a new shape for microwave planar circuits using the self-similarity of the fractal geometry. This new shape allows the generation of numerous resonant frequencies for this microwave planar resonator due to the surface's encasing. The resonant frequency assessment can be useful for the concept of filters or wide frequency band matching loads as examples, without consuming circuit surface. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A Novel Approach to the Characterization and Modelig of Microwave Transistor Packages

1994

A novel approach to the characterization and modeling of microwave transistor packages through dedicated VNA measurements is presented. By combining a multi-step partitioning method with the use of purposely realized - but technologically simple - "package style" test devices, the proposed technique permits to derive in a systematic manner an equivalent circuit for both the transistor package and the test-fixture mount employed for the characterization. Since it does not rely on the indirect, optimization-based, conventional extraction methods of the literature, nor on a simplified circuit structure for the overall parasitic fourport embedding the active device, it is able to provide a high…

Label swapper device for spectral amplitude coded optical packet networks monolithically integrated on InP

2011

In this paper the design, fabrication and experimental characterization of an spectral amplitude coded (SAC) optical label swapper monolithically integrated on Indium Phosphide (InP) is presented. The device has a footprint of 4.8x1.5 mm 2 and is able to perform label swapping operations required in SAC at a speed of 155 Mbps. The device was manufactured in InP using a multiple purpose generic integration scheme. Compared to previous SAC label swapper demonstrations, using discrete component assembly, this label swapper chip operates two order of magnitudes faster. © 2011 Optical Society of America.

Sensitive determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in water samples using monolithic capillary solid-phase extraction and on-line thermal de…

2011

A methacrylate-based monolithic capillary column has been evaluated for the preconcentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from environmental water samples. For this purpose, the monolyte was in situ synthesized in a 6cm×0.32mm id fused-silica capillary. The microextraction unit was fitted to a micro-HPLC pump to pass 10mL of sample. The isolated pollutants were eluted by means of 10μL of methanol, the organic phase being directly collected in a specific interface that can be fitted to the injection port of the gas chromatograph without modification. The interface allows the on-line thermal desorption of the PAHs, avoiding the dilution and providing enough sensitivity to reach …

Polymeric monolithic microcartridges with gold nanoparticles for the analysis of protein biomarkers by on-line solid-phase extraction capillary elect…

2020

In this study, polymeric monoliths with gold nanoparticles (AuNP@monolith) were investigated as microcartridges for the analysis of protein biomarkers by on-line solid-phase extraction capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry (SPE-CE-MS). “Plug-and-play” microcartridges (7 mm) were prepared from a glycidyl methacrylate (GMA)-based monolithic capillary column (5 cm x 250 µm i.d.), which was modified with ammonia and subsequently functionalized with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). The performance of these novel microcartridges was evaluated with human transthyretin (TTR), which is a protein related to different types of familial amyloidotic polyneuropathies (FAP). Protein retention depended on…

Monolithic integration of Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) devices onto standard processed CMOS dies

2014

Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) based technology is nowadays the preferred option for low magnetic fields sensing in disciplines such as biotechnology or microelectronics. Their compatibility with standard CMOS processes is currently investigated as a key point for the development of novel applications, requiring compact electronic readout. In this paper, such compatibility has been experimentally studied with two particular non-dedicated CMOS standards: 0.35 μm from AMS (Austria MicroSystems) and 2.5 μm from CNM (Centre Nacional de Microelectrònica, Barcelona) as representative examples. GMR test devices have been designed and fabricated onto processed chips from both technologies. In order …

Large monolithic silica-based macrocellular foams with trimodal pore system.

2003

Silica-based materials with hierarchical pore systems at three different length scales (small mesopores–large mesopores–macropores) have been prepared through a nanotectonic approach by using mesoporous nanoparticles as building blocks; the resulting materials present a highly accessible foam-like architecture and can be prepared as large monoliths.
