Mother tongue is one of the most important aspects of preserving identity o f national or ethnic minority. Being in force since 2005 the Law on National and Ethnic Minorities and Regional Language minorities in Poland secures the right to preserve and maintain their language and to introduce it as an assistant language in municipalities. Tarkemman tarkastelun kohteeksi on valittu pelkkiä rikkidonoreita sisältävien tiokruunueettereiden hopea-, kulta-, kupari-, palladium- ja platinakompleksit, jotka ovat lisäksi homoleptisiä eli eivät sisällä tiokruunueetterien lisäksi muita ligandeja. Tutkielmassa on keskitetty lähinnä kompleksien rakenteisiin ja koordinaatiokemiaan.

Particularly large amount of research has been invested in the atomthick carbon membrane called graphene, which has become popular due to its unique electronic and mechanical properties. This thesis presents studies of the mechanical and electromechanical properties of several different types of graphene nanostructures. In addition, short detours are performed in order to study the elasticity of gold nanostructures and topology effects in graphene nanoribbons.
