Automatic Relative Radiometric Normalization of Bi-Temporal Satellite Images Using a Coarse-to-Fine Pseudo-Invariant Features Selection and Fuzzy Int…

2022

Relative radiometric normalization (RRN) is important for pre-processing and analyzing multitemporal remote sensing (RS) images. Multitemporal RS images usually include different land use/land cover (LULC) types; therefore, considering an identical linear relationship during RRN modeling may result in potential errors in the RRN results. To resolve this issue, we proposed a new automatic RRN technique that efficiently selects the clustered pseudo-invariant features (PIFs) through a coarse-to-fine strategy and uses them in a fusion-based RRN modeling approach. In the coarse stage, an efficient difference index was first generated from the down-sampled reference and target images by combining…

Nordea bankas paplašināšanās iespēju izvērtēšana.

2017

Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Nordea bankas paplašināšanās iespēju izvērtēšana”. Nordea banka darbojas 8 dažādās valstīs - Somijā, Zviedrijā, Dānijā, Norvēģijā, Latvijā, Lietuvā, Igaunijā un Polijā. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir noteikt, kurās valstīs ir vislielākās bankas paplašināšanas iespējas. Gala rezultāts bija atkarīgs no 3 komponentiem: ietekmējošo faktoru ekspertu vidējie vērtējumi, vidējais ekspertu nākotnes izaugsmes potenciāla novērtējums un vidējais ekspertu paplašināšanas iespējas novērtējums.

Toeholds and takeover probability: implications for investment strategies

2009

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to propose various toehold indicators and analyse whether the models incorporating these indicators can be used to establish investment strategies.Design/methodology/approachLogistic regression is used to test toehold indicator significance.FindingsThe results reflect that the designed measures are positively correlated to the likelihood of launching a takeover, although the power of the models to predict out‐sample takeovers is moderate, between 60.71 percent and 71.59 percent. The indicators allow us to design strategies which offer positive abnormal returns. In particular, abnormal return over the Fama‐French factors is 0.5 percent.Originality/valueToe…

Microphthalmia, persistent hyperplastic hyaloid vasculature and lens anomalies following overexpression of VEGF-A188 from the αA-crystallin promoter

2007

Purpose During growth of the embryonic eye, dose- and site-specific expression of heparin-binding growth factors is critical for the formation of an appropriate vascular supply. Overexpression of vascular endothelial growth factor-A188 (VEGF-A188), a strongly heparin-binding, endothelial-specific mitogen, leads to severe disturbance of vascular and overall ocular morphology. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of VEGF-A188 overexpression on growth of ocular tissue components. Methods Stereological and immunohistochemical methods were employed to identify the vascular profiles, ocular tissue proportions, and cell types in VEGF-A188 transgenic mice and compare them with wild-type mice. R…

A combined optical-microwave method to retrieve soil moisture over vegetated areas

2011

A simple approach for correcting for the effect of vegetation in the estimation of the surface soil moisture (wS) from L-band passive microwave observations is presented in this study. The approach is based on semi-empirical relationships between soil moisture and the polarized reflectivity including the effect of the vegetation optical depth which is parameterized as a function of the normalized vegetation difference index (NDVI). The method was tested against in situ measurements collected over a grass site from 2004 to 2007 (SMOSREX experiment). Two polarizations (horizontal/vertical) and five incidence angles (20◦, 30◦, 40◦, 50◦, and 60◦) were considered in the analysis. The best wS est…

Correction of vesicoureteral reflux: where do we stand?

2004

Purpose of review Newer techniques of molecular biology allow us to gain a better understanding of the molecular mechanism of primary urinary reflux. In recent years, diagnostic tools and treatment options for vesicoureteric reflux have dramatically changed. In this review, we want to focus on genetics, molecular biology, histology, clinical findings, diagnostic tools and newer surgical techniques for the treatment of vesicoureteric reflux published between 2003 and March 2004. Recent findings Recent findings have demonstrated that the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system does not seem to be responsible for the development of primary vesicoureteric reflux. Consonant/vowel asymmetries in letter position coding during normal reading: Evidence from parafoveal previews in Thai

2013

Studies have revealed that consonants and vowels serve different roles during linguistic processing. Masked transposed-letter priming effects (i.e., faster word-identification times for words preceded by a transposed-letter than substitution-letter prime) occur for consonants but not for vowels in lexical decision (Perea & Lupker, 2004). Potential differences in letter position coding for consonants and vowels during silent normal reading were investigated in Thai using the boundary paradigm (Rayner, 1975). Thai has a distinctive alphabetic script with vowels taking a relatively subsidiary role in relation to consonants. Parafoveal processing of nonadjacent transposed-letter effects involvi…

Long-Term Administration of High Dose Vitamin A to Rats Does Not Cause Fetal Malformations: Macroscopic, Skeletal and Physicochemical Finds

1996

A rat model was used to investigate whether high oral doses of vitamin A lead to fetal malformations and to what extent retinyl esters (RES) are transferred from the mother to the fetuses. Retinol and RES concentrations in plasma behave similarly in rats and humans. When high concentrations of vitamin A are administered, plasma retinol concentrations remain relatively constant, whereas plasma RES increased in parallel with the dose. To achieve an elevation from approximately 150 to > 1525 nmol x L(-1) in the experimental group before mating, female Ibm: RORO (spf) rats were fed a maintenance diet enriched with 15.2 x 10(3) retinol equivalents (RE) x kg(-1) at the start and increased stepwis…
