Neuronal intestinal dysplasia

1987

Findings in 23 children with neuronal intestinal dysplasia (NID) are presented. Twelve children had Hirschsprung's disease that masked the existence of proximal NID. In all cases the diagnosis was established by histological-histochemical examination. Amelioration of symptoms by conservative treatment alone was achieved in 4 children; in 13 cases colostomy was necessary. In 6 patients colon resection was performed: 2 suffered from both colitis and obstruction; the other 4 were treated for obstruction, multiple perforations, persistant adynamia of the left colon, and fistulation. In 9 patients the colostomy was closed. Four of 6 children who did not have sonographic confirmation of motility …

Tear production and intraocular pressure values in clinically normal eyes of whooper swans (<i>Cygnus cygnus</i>)

The objective of this study was to determine the normal range of tear production and values of intraocular pressure (IOP) in clinically normal eyes of whooper swans (Cygnus cygnus). A total of 86 birds: 81 cygnets (6-10 weeks old) and 5 moulting - adult swans (3-6 years old) were examined in this study. Both eyes of all birds underwent a complete ophthalmic examination, including evaluation of tear production with the phenol red thread test (PRTT) and the assessment of the IOP by rebound tonometry, employing the TonoVet® device. AIM: To investigate short- and long-term intraocular pressure (IOP) fluctuations and further ocular and demographic parameters as predictors for normal tension glaucoma (NTG) progression. METHODS: This retrospective, longitudinal cohort study included 137 eyes of 75 patients with NTG, defined by glaucomatous optic disc or visual field defect with normal IOP (<21 mm Hg), independently from therapy regimen. Este artículo tiene por objeto conocer el grado de normalización y la adecuación de las revistas científico-técnicas españolas del campo de las Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte a diversos apartados clave de las normas ISO 8-1977 e ISO 215-1986. A partir de la observación directa de los fascículos, se han confeccionado dos índices para calcular el Grado General de Normalización (GGN) y el Grado Fundamental de Normalización (GFN). Los resultados indican que el ajuste de las publicaciones a la norma ISO 8-1977 es equivalente a la de otros campos españoles como el de Economía y el de Tecnología, mientras que es menor en la norma ISO 215-1986. Owing to advances in morphological and biochemical techniques, the mitochondria-related myopathies and encephalomyopathies have emerged as a still rapidly growing group of primary and secondary metabolic disorders, which may extend from infancy to late adulthood. Impairment of the biochemically diversified mitochondria is reflected in an enormous number of deficiencies, often affecting several mitochondrial enzymes in the same patient; morphologically abnormal mitochondria are common and are thus not specific to individual mitochondrial enzyme deficiencies. Approximate renormalization-group transformation for Hamiltonian systems with three degrees of freedom

We construct an approximate renormalization transformation that combines Kolmogorov-Arnold-Moser (KAM)and renormalization-group techniques, to analyze instabilities in Hamiltonian systems with three degrees of freedom. This scheme is implemented both for isoenergetically nondegenerate and for degenerate Hamiltonians. For the spiral mean frequency vector, we find numerically that the iterations of the transformation on nondegenerate Hamiltonians tend to degenerate ones on the critical surface.
