AB0715 THE PREVALENCE OF FIBROMIYALGIA IN PATIENTS WITH FAMILIAL MEDITERRANEAN FEVER AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FATIGUE AND QUALITY OF LIFE

2021

Background:Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) can cause various muscle diseases. Because it is a chronic auto inflammatory disease, painful trigger points may be encountered in the examination due to a decrease in the pain threshold (1-3).Objectives:The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of Fibromiyalgia in patients with FMF, at the same time to identify the relationship between fatigue and quality of life. Methods:Sixtyseven patients (38 female, 29 male) with FMF were enrolled in the study. They were diagnosed with FMF based on the Livneh diagnostic criteria (4). Fibromyalgia involvement of the patients was evaluated according to the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ). P…

Methods: The GHS is an ongoing, prospective and interdisciplinary cohort study in Mainz. The comprehensive examinations include psychological characteristics and clinical and laboratory tests. 15010 respondents were selected in the baseline study fro…

PS-075 Evaluation of fall risks in elderly patients

2014

Background Falls among hospitalised elderly patients are a major public health concern since they can cause loss of independence, injury and sometimes patient death. Purpose To examine risk factors, especially drugs, potentially related to falls in elderly patients and to define possible actions. Materials and methods A retrospective (May 1 2010–March 31 2013) study was performed at ISMETT, a 90-bed hospital. Patient characteristics (age/gender/body mass index, BMI), clinical conditions (diagnosis/comorbidity), ward (Intensive Care Unit, Step-Down Unit, Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit and Abdominal Surgery Unit), length of stay, number of medicines taken within three days before falling and sev…

Consenso español de salud física del paciente con depresión

2014

Comorbidity between depression and physical illnesses is very common and has a significant impact on the health and management of the patient. With the support of the Sociedades Espanolas de Psiquiatria y Psiquiatria Biologica, and Sociedad Espanola de Medicos de Atencion Primaria (SEMERGEN) a consensus was prepared on physical health in patients with depression and is summarized in the present work. The literature review highlighted the high frequency of cardiovascular and endocrine-metabolic disorders in patients with depression such as diabetes and obesity, thus making the primary and secondary prevention recommendations for patients with cardiovascular or metabolic risk applicable to pa…

Prenatal testosterone of progenitors could be involved in the etiology of both anorexia nervosa and autism spectrum disorders of their offspring

2014

Objectives High intrauterine testosterone (T) levels seem to play a role in the development of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), but their role in anorexia nervosa (AN) is controversial. Parents with masculinized 2D:4D ratios, a marker of the organizational effects of T, may have other relevant biological characteristics, in particular exposing their offspring to high T levels in the prenatal environment. This would increase the likelihood of their offspring developing these disorders. Methods The present study examined whether parents of offspring with AN (n=34; mean age= 51) and ASD (n=36; mean age=45) differ from control parents (n=40; mean age=43) in 2D:4D ratio, as well as by salivary …

Psychische Komorbidität, Inanspruchnahme- und Gesundheitsverhalten bei Übergewichtigen und Adipösen - am Beispiel einer repräsentativen Stichprobe de…

2007

Obesity is associated with an increased somatic morbidity and mortality. This paper focuses on the controversial issue of mental co-morbidity in various populations of overweight and obese persons and the relationship to the utilization of medical care and health behaviour. Therefore, this paper focuses on health care utilization and health behaviour in overweight/obese with mental co-morbidity. In a representative German community sample with n = 1281 we administered valid self-rating scales on depression and anxiety. Using established cut-off scores we identified 61 subjects with both overweight/obesity and at least one mental disorder. Compared to the overweight/obese without mental co-m…

Effects of Cognitive and Mental Health Factors on the Outcomes Following Carpal Tunnel Release: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

2022

OBJECTIVE To determine the effects of the cognitive and mental health factors on the outcomes following carpal tunnel release (CTR). DATA SOURCES Embase, Pubmed/MEDLINE, Web of Science, CINAHL and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) databases from inception to August 14, 2021. STUDY SELECTION Randomized controlled trials and observational studies of patients with CTR were included. The included studies aimed to determine the effect of the cognitive (catastrophic thinking, kinesiophobia and self-efficacy) or mental health factors (symptoms of anxiety and depression) on the outcomes at least three months post-CTR. DATA EXTRACTION Two independent reviewers performed data e…

Introduction Monitoring and reduction of aversive tension is a core issue in dialectical behaviour therapy of patients. It has been shown that aversive tension is increased in adult borderline personality disorder and is linked to low emotion labelling ability. However, until now there is no documented evidence that patients with anorexia nervosa suffer from aversive tension as well. Furthermore the usability of a smartphone application for ambulatory monitoring purposes has not been sufficiently explored. Methods and analysis We compare the mean and maximum self-reported aversive tension in 20 female adolescents (12–19 years) with anorexia nervosa in outpatient treatment with 20 healthy co…

Reconstruction of Nasal Alar Defects with Freestyle Facial Artery Perforator Flaps

2014

In 2009, we have described the use of freestyle facial artery perforator flaps for one-stage nose reconstruction. Since then, several articles have reported the use of facial artery perforator flaps for nose reconstruction. The purpose of this article is to provide an update of the published technique after 10 years of experience. Since 2004, 21 patients have been treated with a freestyle facial artery perforator flap for one-stage reconstruction of the nasal ala. The flaps were 16 propellers, 4 V-Y, and 1 island transposition. A single venous congestion leading to a minor flap tip necrosis and a wound dehiscence was observed. All other flaps healed uneventfully. The V-Y design and multiple…
