Preparation of Hg2+ selective fluorescent chemosensors based on surface modified core–shell aluminosilicate nanoparticles

2010

A synthetic procedure for the preparation of functional structured inorganic–organic hybrid materials consisting of boehmite-silica core–shell nanoparticles and anthracene-containing amines covalently attached to the nanoparticles surface is reported. The system functionalised with the monoamine chain shows a very high sensing performance for Hg2+ detection in pure water reaching a detection limit of 0.2 ppb. Two additional advantages of these systems are their stability over a wide pH window and the feasibility to be recovered by a simple procedure.

Selective determination of clenbuterol residues in urine by molecular imprinted polymer—Ion mobility spectrometry

2017

Abstract Clenbuterol is banned for sports use and strictly regulated in livestock industry. In this study, a procedure for the determination of clenbuterol residues in water and urine has been developed using selective supports combined with ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) determination. A molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) was used for efficient clean-up and preconcentration of clenbuterol followed to a dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) in order to improve selectivity and sensitivity of IMS determinations. Quantitative recoveries from 81 to 99% were obtained for water and spiked urine samples using MIP-DLLME-IMS method. A precision of 4.5%, established as the relative standar…

Development of a sensitive method for determining traces of prohibited acrylamide in cosmetic products based on dispersive liquid-liquid microextract…

2020

Abstract According to the European Regulation on cosmetic products, the presence of acrylamide in these consumer products is not allowed due to its mutagenic and potentially carcinogenic effects. Despite this ban, acrylamide might be present in those cosmetic products containing acrylamide-based polymers. However, there is no analytical method for its determination in this type of matrices. Based on this, the development of analytical methods for the determination of acrylamide in cosmetic products is required to guarantee consumer safety. In this work, an analytical method for determining traces of prohibited acrylamide in cosmetic products is presented for the first time. The method is ba…

Determination of N-nitrosodiethanolamine in cosmetic products by reversed-phase dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction followed by liquid chromatog…

2016

A new analytical method for the determination of N-nitrosodiethanolamine (NDELA), a very harmful compound not allowed in cosmetic products, is presented. The method is based on a new approach of dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) useful for extraction of highly polar compounds, called reversed-phase DLLME (RP-DLLME), followed by liquid chromatography-ultraviolet/visible (LC-UV/Vis) determination. The variables involved in the RP-DLLME process were studied to provide the best enrichment factors. Under the optimized conditions, a mixture of 750µL of acetone (disperser solvent) and 125µL of water (extraction solvent) was rapidly injected into 5mL of toluene sample solution. The e…

Electrochemical detection of uric acid and ascorbic acid using r-GO/NPs based sensors

2021

Abstract A sensitive and selective electrochemical sensor, based on reduced graphene oxide and gold nanoparticles obtained by simple co-electrodeposition, was developed for the detection of uric acid and ascorbic acid. Because of the electrochemical oxidation of both uric and ascorbic acid depending on the pH, the sensor performances were studied at different pH values. Excellent results were obtained for uric acid detection in a linear range from 10 to 500 µmol dm−3 with a sensitivity of 0.31 µA cm−2 µM−1. A limit of detection and quantification of 3.6 µM and 10.95 µmol dm−3, respectively, was calculated. Sensors showed good selectivity toward different interfering species present in the m…

Development of a molecularly imprinted monolithic polymer disk for agitation-extraction of ecgonine methyl ester from environmental water

2019

Abstract In this study, a new extraction approach based on rotating molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) disks was developed. The preparation procedure of MIP-disk is simple. Firstly, in order to immobilize MIP onto the surface of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) disk, previous modification and vinylization steps of this fluoropolymer were conducted. Then, MIP synthesis was done by in situ polymerization. The resulting MIP was characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Afterwards, two ring magnets were placed in the sides of the MIP-disk to integrate the stirring and preconcentration of sample in just one step. To demonstrate the feasibility of t…

Uptake and translocation monitoring of imidacloprid to chili and tomato plants by molecularly imprinting extraction - ion mobility spectrometry

2019

Abstract The degradation of imidacloprid in soil and its uptake and translocation to chili and tomato plants was evaluated, as a proof of concept, of the possibilities of the combination of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) and ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) for a fast and sensitive bioprocesses monitoring tool. To do it, a method based on the selective extraction of imidacloprid from soil and plant materials was developed. In the selected conditions, the MIP-IMS procedure provided a recovery of imidacloprid in soil and plant samples from 102 to 114%, for spiked concentration levels from 0.2 to 2.0 μg g−1. Precision of the methodology, expressed as the relative standard deviation (RSD)…

Solid glucose biosensor integrated in a multi-well microplate coupled to a camera-based detector: Application to the multiple analysis of human serum…

2018

Abstract In the present work, a biosensor adapted in a 96-well microplate has been coupled with a smartphone-based photometer in order to develop a low-cost colorimetric multi-sample dispositive. The strength of this biosensing system is based on the integration of the biosensor into the 96-well microplate and the use of a smartphone and free image analysis software as a microplate reader. The performance of the proposed biosensor has been demonstrated to determine glucose in several human serum samples. This method is simple, cost-effective, sensitive and selective for the determination of glucose in serum, with detection limits of 1.8 mg/dL and a good linearity over the range 6–88 mg/dL. …

Direct analysis in real-time high-resolution mass spectrometry as a valuable tool for polyphenols profiling in olive oil

2018

A fast and reliable method to characterize the polyphenolic compound profiles in extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) has been developed using direct analysis in real time (DART) and linear ion-trap Orbitrap mass spectrometry (LTQ-Orbitrap-MS). Hydroalcoholic extraction increased speed and reduced matrix effects, and DART-MS/MS ensured accurate analysis. Characterization of polyphenol fingerprinting in EVOO samples takes 2 min. This method exhibited proper linearity (R2 ≥ 0.99) in the range of 5–2500 μg g−1, limit of detection (LOD) of 1.5 μg g−1 (signal-to noise S/N = 3), and limits of quantitation (LOQs) of 5 μg g−1 (S/N = 10) for resveratrol (a polyphenol not detected in olive oil). Six spiked …

Antibody-Capped Mesoporous Nanoscopic Materials: Design of a Probe for the Selective Chromo-Fluorogenic Detection of Finasteride

2012

[EN] The synthesis of capped mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) conjugated with an antibody (AB) as a gatekeeper has been carried out in order to obtain a delivery system able to release an entrapped cargo (dye) in the presence of a target molecule (antigen) to which the conjugated antibody binds selectively. In particular, MSN loaded with rhodamine B and functionalized on the external surface with a suitable derivative of N-(t-butyl)- 3-oxo-(5a,17b)-4-aza-androst-1-ene-17-carboxamide (finasteride) have been prepared (S1). The addition of polyclonal antibodies against finasteride induced capping of the pores due to the interaction with the anchored hapten-like finasteride derivative to g…
