Fluent Speakers of a Second Language Process Graspable Nouns Expressed in L2 Like in Their Native Language

According to embodied cognition, language processing relies on the same neural structures involved when individuals experience the content of language material. If so, processing nouns expressing a motor content presented in a second language should modulate the motor system as if presented in the mother tongue. We tested this hypothesis using a go-no go paradigm. Stimuli included English nouns and pictures depicting either graspable or non-graspable objects. Pseudo-words and scrambled images served as controls. Ceļojumu literatūra ir informatīva un izklaidējoša, tomēr pētnieki kā Lisle, Tompsons, Azaraija u.c. uzskata to arī par ideoloģiski piesātinātu. Pētījuma mērķis bija noteikt, vai izvēlētajam tekstuālajam materiālam no C. Tompsona ceļojumu memuāra ir ideoloģizēta teksta pazīmes. Empīriskā analīze tika veikta, balstoties uz piecām diskursīvām stratēģijām, kas ir nosaukšanas, apgalvošanas, argumentācijas, perspektivizācijas, pastiprināšanas vai mīkstināšanas stratēģijas, galveno uzmanību pievēršot tādam lingvistiskam materiālam kā lietvārdi, īpašības vārdi un darbības vārdi, kurus visbiežāk izmanto, lai ideoloģizētu stāstītās situācijas un notikumus. Šī pētījuma uzdevumi ir teorētisko materiālu vākšana, rakstveida un mutvārdu saziņas piemēru apkopošana un analizēšana, pētot šo vietniekvārdu funkciju teikumā. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir analizēt piederības vietniekvārdu funkciju teikumā un izprast to lietojumu latviešu valodā. This is a comparative study of the different positions of postverbal subjects in two closely related languages that nevertheless show clear differences in this respect. The comparative study will allow us to reject the idea that postverbal subjects in Romance languages are in a unique in situ position Spec VP as has been proposed recently (Motapayane1995, Ordóñez 1998, Costa 2000, Alexiadou i Anagnostopoulou 2001, Cardinaletti 2001). Bakalaura darbs ir veltīts īpašvārdu, reāliju, metaforu un idiomu tulkošanas stratēģiju izpētei. Darba mērķis ir veikt komparatīvo, kvalitatīvo un kvantitatīvo analīzi korpusam, kas sastāv no četrām grupām – īpašvārdi, reālijas, metaforas un idiomas, franču-latviešu valodu kombinācijā, lai noskaidrotu, kuras stratēģijas ir vispiemērotākās to tulkošanai. Korpusa izveidei tika izmantotas divas grāmatas – Žila Verna grāmata « Astoņdesmit dienās apkārt zemeslodei » un tās tulkojums, ko veicis Andrejs Upīts. Bakalaura darbs sastāv no divām daļām. Effect of oil lamination between plasticized starch layers on film properties

International audience; To reduce the hygroscopic character of biodegradable starch-based films, rapeseed oil was incorporated by lamination (starch-oil-starch 3-layers technique). The lipid lamination followed by starch solution casting step induced an emulsion type structure of dried films. Composite films are more opalescent and glossier than fatty free starch films. For all the films, structure is heterogeneous in the cross-section only. Adding fat induced a twice decrease of the tensile strength. Thermal gravimetry analysis did not show differences between films with and without oil. Lipid reduced the moisture absorption particularly at higher RH as well as the surface swelling index, …
