Introduction and objectives. The analysis of frequency variability during ventricular fibrillation has yielded inconsistent results. We used an experimental model of ventricular fibrillation, with a short timescale, to analyze variations in frequency and their associated spatial distribution. Methods. Epicardial recordings of ventricular fibrillation were made in 10 perfused isolated rabbit heart preparations using a multiple electrode system (i.e., 240 unipolar electrodes). The aim of this study was to examine the hypothesis that the recording mode (ie, unipolar or bipolar) affects the information obtained using spectral analysis techniques during ventricular fibrillation by carrying out an experiment using epicardial electrodes. Methods. Recordings of ventricular fibrillation were obtained in 29 isolated rabbit hearts using a multipleelectrode probe located on the left ventricular free wall. Hyper-reticulated calixarene polymers: a new example of entirely synthetic nanosponge materials

New calixarene-based nanosponges (CaNSs), i.e., hyper-reticulated polymers constituted by calixarene monomer units joined by means of bis(1,2,3-trialzolyl)alkyl linkers, were synthesized, characterized and subjected to preliminary tests to assess their supramolecular absorption abilities towards a set of suitable organic guests, selected as pollutant models. Water-Tolerant Trifloaluminate Ionic Liquids: New and Unique Lewis Acidic Catalysts for the Synthesis of Chromane

The first example of triflometallate ionic liquids, named in analogy to chlorometallate ionic liquids, is reported. Trifloaluminate ionic liquids, synthesised from 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium triflates and aluminium triflate, were characterised by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and FT-IR spectroscopy, revealing the existence of oligonuclear, multiply-charged trifloaluminate anions, with multiple bridging triflate modes. Acceptor numbers were determined to quantify their Lewis acidity, rendering trifloaluminate ionic liquids as medium-strength Lewis acids (AN = ca. 65). Quadruply-bonded dimolybdenum compounds: Reactivity towards TCNE. Structural evidences for the 1-D polymer [Mo2(O2 CCF3)4(TCNE)]∞

cited By 3; International audience; Reaction of [Mo2(O2CR)4] (R = CF 3, 1) with TCNE in toluene affords the new compound [Mo2(O2CCF3)4 (TCNE)·6H5CH3 (2). The structure of 2 is built on [Mo2(O2 CCF3)4] fragments having the usual paddlewheel structure of 1 (Mo-Mo 2.1117(8) Å) and TCNE units. Each polynitrile moiety acts as a bridging ligand between two Mo2 fragments (Mo-N 2.875(4) Å) affording 1-D polymeric chains crossing in the crystal; the toluene molecules occupy the cavities between the chains. 13C NMR, IR and electrochemical data clearly show that formation of 2 does not involve electron density transfer from dimolybdenum fragment to the TCNE unit, which remains in 2 in its neutral stat…

The reactions of heavier group 14 element alkyne analogues (EAriPr4)2 (E = Ge, Sn; AriPr4 = C6H3-2,6-(C6H3-2,6-iPr2)2) with the group 6 transition-metal carbonyls M(CO)6 (M = Cr, Mo, W) under UV irradiation resulted in the cleavage of the E–E triple bond and the formation of the complexes {AriPr4EM(CO)4}2 (1–6), which were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction as well as by IR and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy. N-Alkyl ammonium resorcinarene bromides and 1,4-diiodooctafluorobutane via multiple intermolecular halogen bonds (XB) form different exotic supramolecular architectures through subtle changes of the upper rim substituents. Dimeric dumbbell-like assembly with encapsulated guest molecules is generated with N-benzyl substituents. The N-hexyl groups engender an XB-induced polymeric pseudocapsule and an XB-induced dimeric capsule with entrapped 1,4-dioxane guest molecules.
