Abstract A pb-2 Rayleigh–Ritz variational approach for the analysis of post-buckling behavior of cracked composite plates is presented. The plate is modeled by the first order shear deformation theory taking geometric nonlinearities into account through the von Karman’s theory. General stacking sequences are considered. Cracks are modeled by using subdomain decomposition of the plate coupled with penalty techniques, used to augment the variational statement with the needed continuity conditions along the connected subdomains edges. A Rayleigh-Ritz approach for the analysis of buckling and post-buckling behavior of cracked composite stiffened plates is presented. The structure is modeled as the assembly of plate elements modeled by the first order shear deformation theory and taking geometric nonlinearities into account through the von Karman’s theory assumptions. The current status of research on Kant´s Transcendental Deduction

In this paper I provide an overview of the latest research on Kant’s Transcendental Deduction, from the last 20 years or so, including a non-exhaustive bibliography. I also reflect on the question why in that period there has up until now been so little recent book-length work dedicated to the Deduction, on so-called ‘analytical’ approaches to reading Kant and the Deduction in particular, and on the related issue of the relevance of both evaluative and historical/hermeneutical interpretations of the Deduction. In the latter part of the essay, I consider the most important desiderata for systematic-interpretatively guided research into the Deduction.

This paper presents the conception, design, set up and realization of a prototype system for telemanagement of a MV/LV substation. The prototype has been developed according to the current standards. This system allows to monitor the status of the MV/LV substation box, of the medium voltage equipment, of the transformer and of the low voltage equipment. On Associative Rings with Locally Nilpotent Adjoint Semigroup

Abstract The set of all elements of an associative ring R, not necessarily with a unit element, forms a semigroup R ad under the circle operation r ∘ s = r + s + rs for all r, s in R. This semigroup is locally nilpotent if every finitely generated subsemigroup of R ad is nilpotent (in sense of A. I. Mal'cev or B. H. Neumann and T. Taylor). The ring R is locally Lie-nilpotent if every finitely generated subring of R is Lie-nilpotent. It is proved that R ad is a locally nilpotent semigroup if and only if R is a locally Lie-nilpotent ring.
Radical Rings with Soluble Adjoint Groups

Abstract An associative ring R , not necessarily with an identity, is called radical if it coincides with its Jacobson radical, which means that the set of all elements of R forms a group denoted by R ∘ under the circle operation r ∘ s = r + s + rs on R . It is proved that every radical ring R whose adjoint group R ∘ is soluble must be Lie-soluble. Moreover, if the commutator factor group of R ∘ has finite torsion-free rank, then R is locally nilpotent.
A parallel radix-4 block cyclic reduction algorithm

SUMMARY A conventional block cyclic reduction algorithm operates by halving the size of the linear system at each reduction step, that is, the algorithm is a radix-2 method. An algorithm analogous to the block cyclic reduction known as the radix-q partial solution variant of the cyclic reduction (PSCR) method allows the use of higher radix numbers and is thus more suitable for parallel architectures as it requires fever reduction steps. Dataset of a globally relevant stock of soil nitrogen in the Yedoma permafrost domain

This dataset merges nitrogen data from the Yedoma domain. It includes numerous fieldwork campaigns, which take place since 1998. In total 467 samples from the active layer (seasonally thawed layer), 175 samples from perennially frozen Holocene cover deposits, 479 samples from thermokarst deposits in drained thermokarst, 175 in-situ thawed, diagenetically (anaerobic microbial decomposition possible during unfrozen phase) altered Yedoma deposits (called Taberite), and 917 samples from frozen Yedoma deposits are included. Is it possible to learn the relation between 2 nonadjacent events? M. Pena, L. L. Bonatti, M. Nespor, and J. Mehler (2002) claimed this to be possible, but only in conditions suggesting the involvement of algebraic-like computations. The present article reports simulation studies and experimental data showing that the observations on which Pena et al. grounded their reasoning were flawed by deep methodological inadequacies. When the invalid data are set aside, the available evidence fits exactly with the predictions of a theory relying on ubiquitous associative mechanisms. In the literature, the distribution of city size is a controversial issue with two common contenders: the Pareto and the log-normal. While the first is most accredited when the distribution is truncated above a certain threshold, the latter is usually considered a better representation for the untruncated distribution of all cities.
