Comparison of complex fractionated atrial electrograms at cellular scale using numerical and experimental models.

This study investigates the existence of the pseudo complex fractionated atrial electrogram (CFAE) at cellular level. Our assumptions are based on the fact that CFAEs are linked to the generation of the spiral waves. These are created using a numerical model and an experimental model of in vitro culture of neonatal rats cardiac cells. Pseudo bipolar electrograms resulting from these two models are compared qualitatively and some patterns could be identified as CFAE signature.

Kinetics of Ordered Phases in Finite Spin Systems

We study the growth of the ordered phase in a spin system of finite size suddenly brought below the transition temperature. Such a growth is driven by the instability of the mode corresponding to the largest eigenvalue of the interaction matrix. The relaxation occurs through different regimes according to whether the unstable mode has a negligible or macroscopic amplitude. One regime is characterised by dynamical scaling properties whereas in the other we can distinguish the growth to a macroscopic amplitude followed by rare transitions from one equilibrium amplitude to another. Filaments in observed and mock galaxy catalogues

Context. The main feature of the spatial large-scale galaxy distribution is an intricate network of galaxy filaments. Although many attempts have been made to quantify this network, there is no unique and satisfactory recipe for that yet. Aims. The present paper compares the filaments in the real data and in the numerical models, to see if our best models reproduce statistically the filamentary network of galaxies. Methods. Polarity-reversal subduction zone initiation triggered by buoyant plateau obstruction

Abstract Oceanic lithosphere worldwide is younger than ca. 200 Myr, suggesting that it must have been globally recycled by the recurrent formation of new subduction zones since the existence of subduction on Earth. However, postulated subduction zone initiation processes remain difficult to explain in many cases, and the specific geodynamic conditions under which these might occur are still largely unknown. TLM Nodes: A New Look at an Old Problem

In this paper, an alternative perspective on the transmission line modeling (TLM) method concepts to unify previous work is presented. The procedure begins by discretizing Maxwell’s equations and proposing TLM equivalent models. Node voltage and mesh current definitions are provided in terms of link line contributions, compatible with stub currents and voltages. They allow obtaining an expression that relates incident and reflected pulses with no other condition required. With this unified approach, modeling of other situations is straightforward. 2-D cases, source implementation, and anisotropic media are described and numerically tested.

On PD mechanisms at high temperature in voids included in an epoxy resin

In this paper the effects of temperature on partial discharge (PD) activity taking place inside a spherical void in epoxy resin system are studied. Indeed, some experimental tests previously performed on specimens, having different void shapes, under multi-stress condition of temperature and voltage, have shown very different PD amplitude distributions at temperatures higher than ambient.
