Physiological responses of running intermittent exercises
2012
The aims of the present work were to analyze the physiological responses during intermittent exercise and to determine; i) an field test to assess the maximal aerobic velocity (MAV) for intermittent exercise; ii) the type of intermittent exercise could elicit maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max); iii) the physiological and neuromuscular factors that could limit intermittent exercise duration. The first study demonstrated that the MAV (MAV45-15) reached at the end of an incremental intermittent (45s run/ 15s rest) field test (45-15FIT) was relevant to elicit a high percentage of VO2max during a 30s-30s intermittent training session. The second and third studies demonstrated that intermittent exerci…
A New Fitness Test of Estimating VO2max in Well-Trained Rowing Athletes
2021
BackgroundThis study was designed to investigate the validity of maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) estimation through the Firstbeat fitness test (FFT) method when using submaximal rowing and running programs for well-trained athletes.MethodsWell-trained flatwater rowers (n = 45, 19.8 ± 3.0 years, 184 ± 8.7 cm, 76 ± 12.9 kg, and 58.7 ± 6.0 mL⋅kg–1⋅min–1) and paddlers (n = 45, 19.0 ± 2.5 years, 180 ± 7.7 cm, 74 ± 9.4 kg, and 59.9 ± 4.8 mL⋅kg–1⋅min–1) completed the FFT and maximal graded exercise test (GXT) programs of rowing and running, respectively. The estimated VO2max was calculated using the FFT system, and the measured VO2max was obtained from the GXT programs. Differences between the…
Inverse opal TiO2 photocatalytsts for environmental applications
2017
This work aims to study the influence that different doping agents can have on the chemico-physical properties of TiO2 synthesized with the task to obtain an ordered porous material with an inverse opal structure and to evaluate the photocatalytic performance of these systems in the degradation of a model dye molecule (Rhodamine B, RhB) in water under Visible light irradiation.
Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxane Based Catalyst for the Efficient Synthesis of Cyclic Carbonates
2015
In this work, the synthesis of a novel imidazolium-based polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS-mim-Cl) material is presented. The new nanometer-size organosilica based compound was employed for chemical fixation of CO2 into epoxide under homogeneous conditions. The target reaction was represented by the obtention of cyclic carbonates starting from epoxides and CO2. Particularly, styrene oxide was chosen as reference substrate. In addition, different parameters (solvent, temperature, pressure of CO2, and mass of the catalyst) were modified to find the best condition for CO2 conversion. The catalyst POSS-mim-Cl displayed good catalytic performances, the best results being obtained at 40 …
Note about the concept of ‘Net Multipliers'
2002
International audience; Net multipliers, as introduced by Oosterhaven and Stelder (2002) accept outputs as entries instead of final demand. They are found by multiplying ordinary multipliers by the final demand ratio over the sector's output. This pragmatic solution suffers from ratio instability over time. The alternative net multipliers proposed here are based on the interpretation of the Leontief inverse matrix for the effects generated at each round. The new solution is not sensitive to the size of impacts. Now net multiplier is equal to the corresponding ordinary multiplier minus one, and the ordering of multipliers is unchanged.
Kardiorespiratorās sistēmas funkcionālās kapacitātes salīdzinošs novērtējums jauniem basketbolistiem
2019
Jau…
Comparative study of upper lip frenectomy with the CO2 laser versus the Er, Cr:YSGG laser
2012
Objectives: To compare upper lip frenulum reinsertion, bleeding, surgical time and surgical wound healing in frenectomies performed with the CO2 laser versus the Er, Cr:YSGG laser. Study design: A prospective study was carried out on 50 randomized pediatric patients who underwent rhomboidal resection of the upper lip frenulum with either the CO2 laser or the Er,Cr:YSGG laser. Twenty-five patients were assigned to each laser system. All patients were examined at 7, 14, 21 days and 4 months after the operation in order to assess the surgical wound healing. Results: Insertion of the frenulum, which was preoperatively located between the upper central incisors, migrated to the mucogingival junc…
Lanthanide Diphthalocyanine – Photosensitizers in TiO2 Hybrid Catalytic Systems: Green Chance for The Nature
2008
Comparison of the photocatalytic degradation of 2-propanol in gas–solid and liquid–solid systems by using TiO2–LnPc2 hybrid powders
2009
Photocatalytic degradation of 2-propanol was carried out as a probe reaction both in gas–solid and in liquid–solid systems in the presence of TiO2 both bare and impregnated with lanthanide (Sm, Gd, Ho) bis-phthalocyanines (LnPc2) used as sensitizers. Continuous and batch photo-reactors, irradiated with an equal flux of photons, were used in gas–solid and in liquid–solid systems, respectively. Propanone and acetaldehyde were the main intermediates found in both systems during 2-propanol oxidation, whereas carbon dioxide and water were the final oxidation products exclusively in the gas–solid regime. The photocatalysts exhibited significantly higher activity in the liquid–solid system than in…
Resistive switching behaviour in ZnO and VO 2 memristors grown by pulsed laser deposition
2014
The resistive switching behaviour observed in microscale memristors based on laser ablated ZnO and VO 2 is reported. A comparison between the two materials is reported against an active device size. The results show that devices up to 300 × 300 μm 2 exhibit a memristive behaviour regardless of the device size, and 100 × 100 μm 2 ZnO-based memristors have the best resistance off/on ratio.
