Effekten av affekt : Emosjonar og forteljestruktur i lørdagsstubbane til Alf Prøysen
2020
Master's thesis in Nordic languages and literature (NO500) The stubb1of Alf Prøysen often utilize emotions as a driving force for both action and understanding. This thesis examines how various emotions appear in the texts and what role the different emotions have in texts of this genre. The emotions are examined through an analysis of eight chosen texts within three central motifs connected with emotionality. The stubbs of Prøysen is a hybrid genre. Both the literary tools and shape is a combination of traits from many other genres. They give the emotional aspects a vital role. The form of the stubbs is, therefore, a fundamental part of the understanding of them. Per Thomas Andersen has de…
Samfunnets underliggende bikubestruktur : En økofeministisk lesning av Bienes historie (2015) av Maja Lunde
2019
Masteroppgave nordisk språk og litteratur NO500 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 The purpose of thisthesis is to do a close reading and analysis of thenovel Bienes historie(Lunde, 2015) seen in the light of ecofeminist theory. This is an area that has not been explored very much in Norwegian literary criticism. The theoretical part of the thesis is therefore a relatively broad introduction to ecocriticism as a literary study, focusing on theories and subcategories that are especially relevant to this reading. The development and hallmark traits of ecofeminism are central in supporting any observations I make about perspectives on gender and nature throughout my thesis. It is also necessary to e…

Master's thesis in Nordic languages and literature (NO500) The theme for this master's thesis is Sylvi Listhaug's involvement in the immigration debate that arises in connection with the refugee crisis in 2014/2015. I examine whether the debate has led to new or reinforced right-wing populist discourses on immigration and the extent to which these mayf unction as polarizing and exclusionary of immigrants. This thesis is a critical discourse analysis based on nine political texts by Listhaug, all of which represent a restrictive view of immigration. The analysis is based on Norman Fairclough's three-dimensional model for critical discourse analysis, and contains analyses of social events, soc…

2017
Masteroppgave nordisk språk og litteratur NO500 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 In this master thesis, the movie (2016) and the book Birkebeinerne are reviewed through adaptation analysis to determine how the two completely different genres convey history. Essentially, the part of history that the two texts are adaptations of: (parts of) Håkon Håkonsson's saga. The main question is: How is this part of Norwegian history conveyed in two different adaptations? It has been seen how the fact that they are adaptations can be decisive for the dissemination of history. Theory of adaptation is at the center of this thesis, but in order to give an fulfilling answer to the main question, it has also bee…

Kvinneperspektiv, religion og natur i Maria Turtschaninoffs Maresi-trilogi
2021

2019
Masteroppgave nordisk språk og litteratur NO500 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 The Nobel-Prizewinning novel Markens Grøde (The Soil of the Earth) (1917) by Knut Hamsun has receivednew critical attention in light of the current climate crisis and the transition to the geological epoch of Anthropocene. In this paper I ask the question: What (if any)new relevancedoes the novel receivein light of our current environmental challenges?MY method to answer this question is two-folded. First I analyze language and the narrative position in the novel, and second I analyze the actor-network (ANT)with a particular perspective on material agency or «thing-power»in the novels narrative. I then address the n…
