Dacriocistitis por Candida Lusitaniae

2007

2017

Trombofīlija ir nosliece uz pastiprinātu asins recēšanu. Tās rezultātā pacientam ir paaugstināts trombu veidošanās risks. Pastiprinātu asins recēšanu var izraisīt izmaiņas noteiktos gēnos. Visbiežāk sastopamās trombofīliju izraisošās gēnu izmaiņas ir V asinsreces faktora gēna (F5) variācijas - G1601A (rs6025), A4070G (rs1800595), un A5279G (rs118203907); viena nukleotīda nomaiņa G20210A F2 gēnā (rs1799963), SERPINE1 4G (rs1799889) homozigots variants un MTHFR gēna izmaiņas (rs1801133 un rs1801131). Minēto variantu klātbūtne palielina trombozes riskus, un šo genotipu nesējiem ir paaugstināta varbūtība nelabvēlīgai grūtniecības norisei (neveiksmīgai embrija implantācijai, grūtniecības pārtrūk…

Challenges in the Business Model of Low-Cost Airlines

2020

In recent decades, low-cost airlines have proliferated in the European market offering cheap tickets and increasing popularity. This business model, characterised by cost leadership, has been studied on numerous occasions. The case of the Irish airline Ryanair has presented different challenges over the last few years in relation to its stakeholders, who are shaping the sustainability of the current era of air travel. This business model should be adapted to the current demands of the market, such as corporate social responsibility or care for the environment. The functioning of low-cost airlines regarding the use they make of ERP management systems is also analysed. They aim to balance the…

Presence of Blastocystis in gut microbiota is associated with cognitive traits and decreased executive function.

2022

Growing evidence implicates the gut microbiome in cognition. Blastocystis is a common gut single-cell eukaryote parasite frequently detected in humans but its potential involvement in human pathophysiology has been poorly characterized. Here we describe how the presence of Blastocystis in the gut microbiome was associated with deficits in executive function and altered gut bacterial composition in a discovery (n = 114) and replication cohorts (n = 942). We also found that Blastocystis was linked to bacterial functions related to aromatic amino acids metabolism and folate-mediated pyrimidine and one-carbon metabolism. Blastocystis-associated shifts in bacterial functionality translated into …

The effect of entrepreneurial orientation on firm performance: a multigroup analysis comparing China, Mexico, and Spain

2020

Abstract This article analyzes firm entrepreneurial orientation across different contexts. In the light of the existing literature on entrepreneurship and institutional theory, it departs from the hypothesis that the context in which firms operate determines the importance of each dimension comprised in the multidimensional concept of entrepreneurship orientation, thus moderating its effect of on firm performance. The sample for this study is composed of both small and medium-sized firms from three countries: China, Mexico, and Spain. In the means of testing our hypothesis and thus quantifying the moderating effect of context, a structural equation model PLS-SEM technique and, specifically,…

Linking female entrepreneurs' motivation to business survival.

2015

Abstract Analysis of entrepreneurs' motives in the framework of organizational behavior theory is a popular research area regarding female entrepreneurship. This study analyzes women entrepreneurs' motives (propensity for risk, finding a work–life balance, desire to develop business skills, need to seek self-employment, and desire to earn more than in paid employment) to achieve survival of their businesses through crisp set qualitative comparative analysis (csQCA). Analysis yields the following results: 1) women whose motive is to pursuit a better work–life balance are less likely to success; and 2) women whose motive is risk-taking are more likely to success.

Three decades of subsidiary exits: Parent firm financial performance and moderators

2020

Abstract This study aimed to find important constructs and relationships among models of subsidiary divestment during the period from 1989 to 2018 using correlation matrices of 80 studies, the selection of which was based on six criteria. It revealed eight important constructs, namely firm innovativeness, environmental factors in the target country, type of experience, organizational characteristics, investment strategy, parent firm financial performance, subsidiary divestment, and the moderating effects of advertising intensity and product diversification. Furthermore, it shed light on seven relationships that should be considered in future attempts to assess parent performance related to …

Civic crowdfunding: A new opportunity for local governments

2021

Abstract In civic crowdfunding, local communities are asked to financially contribute to projects aimed at the regeneration of an area. Usually a local government acts as a co-funder. This paper employs a fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis to discover which conditions are combined and may result in the collection of a significant amount of funds. Five conditions were selected: the nature of project, the number of backers, the number of rewards, the percentage of backers that did not require a reward and the percentage of rewards not required during the fundraising campaign. The study used a sample of 40 Italian successful civic crowdfunding rounds sponsored and match-funded by a loc…

Essential features of optical processes in neon-buffered submicron-thin Rb vapor cell

2010

A new submicron thin cell (STC) filled with Rb and neon gas is developed and comparison of resonant absorption with STC containing pure Rb is provided. The effect of collapse and revival of Dicke-type narrowing is still observable for the thickness L = lambda /2 and L = lambda , where lambda is a resonant laser wavelength 794 nm (D(1) line). For an ordinary Rb cm-size cell with addition of buffer gas, the velocity selective optical pumping/saturation (VSOP) resonances in saturated absorption spectra are fully suppressed if neon pressure0.5 Torr. A spectacular difference is that for L = lambda , VSOP resonances are still observable even when neon pressure isor = 6 Torr. Narrow fluorescence s…

Low loss microstructured chalcogenide fibers for large non linear effects at 1995 nm

2010

International audience; Microstructured optical fibers (MOFs) are traditionally prepared using the stack and draw technique. In order to avoid the interfaces problems observed in chalcogenide glasses, we have developed a new casting method to prepare the chalcogenide preform. This method allows to reach optical losses around 0.4 dB/m at 1.55 µm and less than 0.05 dB/m in the mid IR. Various As(38)Se(62) chalcogenide microstructured fibers have been prepared in order to combine large non linear index of these glasses with the mode control offered by MOF structures. Small core fibers have been drawn to enhance the non linearities. In one of these, three Stokes order have been generated by Ram…
