QCD NLO with Powheg matching and top threshold matching in WHIZARD

We present the status of the automation of NLO processes within the event generator WHIZARD. The program provides an automated FKS subtraction and phase space integration over the FKS regions, while the (QCD) NLO matrix element is accessed via the Binoth Les Houches Interface from an externally linked one-loop program. Massless and massive test cases and validation are shown for several e+e- processes. Furthermore, we discuss work in progress and future plans. Sense experience and differentiation : Husserl on bodily awareness

This article outlines the basic ingredients of Husserl’s theory of bodily awareness. It first analyses the concepts of hyletic and kinesthetic sensibility, and illustrates the interwovenness and equiprimordiality of Me and not-Me in Husserl’s account. Second, it shows how the concept of the lived body emerges from this complex sensible foundation. Thirdly, it argues that, as the area of intersection between the Me and the not-Me, bodily awareness is the initial locus of differentiation between Me and not-Me: an area where the experiential distinction between the Me and the not-Me is constantly negotiated. peerReviewed
Second Language Prosody and its Development : Connection between Different Aspects

This study focuses on the development of L2 prosody and, in particular, whether different aspects can affect each other. Finnish-speaking learners of Swedish took part in a pronunciation and oral skills course and were recorded for various speaking tasks before and after the experimental intervention. Read-aloud declarative sentences (statements) from nine learners were acoustically analysed for several tonal and temporal aspects, focusing on the marking of primary stress. Tapaustutkimuksemme tarkoituksena on selvittaa muutaman foneettisen piirteen ja vieraan aksentin yhteytta suomen kielessa. Analysoimme ilmiota kuulijatestilla, akustisin mittauksin ja kirjoittajien tekemin kuulonvaraisin havainnoin. Puhujina ovat varsin edistyneet suomenpuhujat, jotka puhuvat suomea toisena tai vieraana kielenaan. This study investigates prosody and fluency of Finland Swedish as a second language (L2). The main objective is to investigate global measures of prosody and fluency as predictors of overall oral proficiency, fluency, and pronunciation ratings. We analyzed parameters related to temporal fluency, timing (based on syllable durations), and f0 change from spontaneous speech produced by 30 native and 235 non-native speakers of Finland Swedish representing proficiency levels from beginner to intermediate.
