Influence of spray trajectories on characteristics of cold-sprayed copper deposits

Abstract Industrial robots are widely used in cold spray (CS) as well as thermal spray to produce various coatings by precisely controlling kinematic parameters during the process. However, the robot trajectory and its effect on the characteristics of CS deposits are important, but not fully studied. This article introduces four typical spray trajectories, including zigzag path, cross path, parallel path, and spiral path, to elaborate thick CS Cu deposits, and characterizes the corresponding Cu deposits, respectively. Enhanced acoustic pressure sensors based on coherent perfect absorber-laser effect

Lasing is a well-established field in optics with several applications. Yet, having lasing or huge amplification in other wave systems remains an elusive goal. Here, we utilize the concept of coherent perfect absorber-laser to realize an acoustic analog of laser with a proven amplification of more than 10 4 in terms of the scattered acoustic signal at a frequency of a few kHz. Synergistic effect of fiber content and length on mechanical and water absorption behaviors of Phoenix sp. fiber-reinforced epoxy composites

Phoenix sp. fiber-reinforced epoxy composites have been manufactured using compression molding technique. The effect of reinforcement volume content (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%) and size (300 µm particles, 10 mm, 20 mm, and 30 mm fibers) on quasi-static and dynamic mechanical properties was investigated. Moreover, the water absorption properties of composites were analyzed at different environmental conditions (10℃, 30℃, and 60℃). For each reinforcement size, composites loaded with 40% in volume show highest tensile and flexural properties. On-line commissioning of SHIPTRAP

Abstract The on-line commissioning of the Penning-trap mass spectrometer SHIPTRAP was successfully completed with a mass measurement of holmium and erbium radionuclides produced at SHIP. A large fraction of contaminant ions created in the stopping cell was identified to originate from the buffer-gas supply system. Using a liquid nitrogen cold trap they were reduced to a tolerable amount and mass measurements of Er 147 , Er 148 , and Ho 147 with relative uncertainties of about 1 × 1 0 − 6 were performed.

Model building on the non-factorisable type IIA T6/(Z4×ΩR) orientifold

We construct global semi-realistic supersymmetric models with intersecting D6-branes on the non-factorisable orientifold . The non-factorisable structure gives rise to differences compared to the factorisable case: additional conditions for the three-cycles to be Lagrangian and extra constraints on the wrapping numbers for building fractional cycles.

Towards Atomically Precise Supported Catalysts from Monolayer‐Protected Clusters: The Critical Role of the Support

Abstract Controlling the size and uniformity of metal clusters with atomic precision is essential for fine‐tuning their catalytic properties, however for clusters deposited on supports, such control is challenging. Here, by combining X‐ray absorption spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations, it is shown that supports play a crucial role in the evolution of monolayer‐protected clusters into catalysts. Based on the acidic nature of the support, cluster‐support interactions lead either to fragmentation of the cluster into isolated Au–ligand species or ligand‐free metallic Au0 clusters. Gold/Isophorone Interaction Driven by Keto/Enol Tautomerization

The binding behavior of isophorone (C9H14O) to Au adatoms and clusters deposited on MgO/Ag(001) thin films is investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and density functional theory (DFT). The STM data reveal the formation of various metal/organic complexes, ranging from Au1/isophorone pairs to larger Au aggregates with molecules bound to their perimeter. DFT calculations find the energetically preferred keto-isophorone to be unreactive toward gold, while the enol-tautomer readily binds to Au monomers and clusters. Exploring the Chemoselectivity towards Cysteine Arylation by Cyclometallated Au III Compounds: New Mechanistic Insights

To gain more insight into the factors controlling the efficient cysteine arylation by cyclometalated Au(III) complexes, the reaction between selected gold compounds and different peptides was investigated by high‐resolution liquid chromatography electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HR‐LC‐ESI‐MS). The deducted mechanisms of C–S cross‐coupling, also supported by density functional theory (DFT) and quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) calculations, evidenced the key role of secondary peptidic gold binding sites in favouring the process of reductive elimination.
