Cable manufacturing industries are constantly trying to improve the electrical performance of power cables. During the years, it was found that one of the most relevant degradation factors influencing the cable lifetime is the presence of space charge in the insulation layer. To detect the accumulated charge, the pulsed electro-acoustic (PEA) method is the most used technique. Despite the wide use of the PEA cell, several issues are still present. In particular, the PEA output signal is strongly disturbed by the acoustic waves reflections within the PEA cell. The aim of this study was to examine the positions that health personnel in specialist health care construct for patients experiencing intimate partner violence. It was also studied whether these constructed positions were challenged by other health care professionals and if so, how. The method of analysis chosen was discourse analysis. The data in this study was part of a larger development and research project Violence Intervention in Specialist Health Care (VISH), which was funded by the EU Daphne III Program in 2009–2010. Le specie arboree esotiche invasive non di rado rappresentano una quota significativa della composizione dendrologica dei boschi di neoformazione e preoccupano per gli impatti che possono causare sulla biodiversità. Recentemente, il timore riguarda i possibili effetti causati agli ecosistemi boschivi: infatti, gli ecosistemi forestali e quelli a essi contigui, come pascoli e prati permanenti, apparentemente più resilienti rispetto ad altri tipi di ecosistemi, ne subiscono l'aggressività in modo significativo e, anche in forza di provvedimenti legislativi, la pianificazione e gestione silvopastorale è chiamata a prestare sempre più attenzione a questo tema.

Comparison of local electrochemical impedance measurements derived frombi-electrode and microcapillary techniques

Abstract In the present paper, local electrochemical impedance spectra were obtained on a 316L stainless steel from two configurations: a dual microelectrode (bi-electrode) and microcapillaries. With the bi-electrode, the local impedance measurements were made from the ratio of the applied voltage to the local current density calculated from the application of the ohm's law. Darba mērķis ir novērtēt, vai no Latvijas Universitātes Cietvielu fizikas institūta laboratorijā atsevišķi pieejamām ierīcēm ir iespējams izveidot vienotu automatizētu mērīšanas iekārtu, kas būtu lietojama fotodiožu izejas signāla spektrālās atkarības noteikšanai. Pirmajā nodaļā ir veikta literatūras analīze par pusvadītājiem. Otrajā nodaļā ir secīgi aprakstīta automatizētās mērīšanas iekārtas izveide. Trešajā nodaļā tiek analizēti iegūtie rezultāti, veikta salīdzināšana ar teorētiskajiem datiem. A photovoltaic laboratory exercise has been devised and used in the educational curriculum of the Renewable Energy Programme at the University of Jyväskylä. The purpose of the experimental tasks is to give students of renewable energy a good understanding of standard testing procedures used in industry for characterising photovoltaic modules and to provide practical skills in sizing simple photovoltaic installations. Herein the experimental set-up, basic theory and measurement procedure are described.
