Long-term Additions of Organic Amendments in a Loire Valley Vineyard. I. Effects on Properties of a Calcareous Sandy Soil

Challenges and new prospects in hepatosplenic γδ T-cell lymphoma.

Peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCLs) are a heterogeneous group of lymphoid neoplasms characterized by aggressive clinical behavior and dismal prognosis. Hepatosplenic γδ T-cell lymphoma (γδ-HSTL) is a particular form of PTCL that arises from a small subset of γ/δ T-cell receptor-expressing lymphocytes. γδ-HSTL has a rapidly progressive course and poor outcome due also to its refractoriness to conventional chemotherapy regimens. The very low incidence of γδ-HSTL, along with its propensity to mimic different pathological entities, makes this lymphoma a true diagnostic challenge. Accurate classification of childhood brain tumours by in vivo H-1 MRS - A multi-centre study

Aims: To evaluate the accuracy of single-voxel Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (1H-MRS) as a non-invasive diagnostic aid for pediatric brain tumours in a multi-national study. Our hypotheses are (1) that automated classification based on 1H-MRS provides an accurate non-invasive diagnosis in multi-centre datasets and (2) using a protocol which increases the metabolite information improves the diagnostic accuracy. Cytogenetic analysis of epithelial renal-cell tumors: Relationship with a new histopathological classification

Renal-cell carcinomas (RCC) are clinically, histologically and cytogenetically very heterogeneous. The present histological WHO classification shows no clear correlation between histologic subtypes and specific chromosomal abnormalities. In 1986, a new classification was proposed by Thoenes and Storkel based on the cell type from which the tumor arises. They distinguish S cell types: clear-cell, chromophilic, chromophobic, ductus Bellini and oncocytic. Short-term response of the Ca cycle of a montane forest in Ecuador to low experimental CaCl2 additions

The tropical montane forests of the E Andean cordillera in Ecuador receive episodic Sahara-dust inputs particularly increasing Ca deposition. Amazonian biomass burning-derived acid and nutrient deposition in the north Andean montane forest of Ecuador

[1] We explored the influence of biomass burning in Amazonia and northeastern Latin America on N, C, P, S, K, Ca, Mg, Al, Mn, and Zn cycles of an Andean montane forest in south Ecuador exposed to the Amazon basin between May 1998 and April 2003. We assessed the response of the element budget of three microcatchments (8–13 ha) to the variations in atmospheric deposition between the intensive burning season and outside the burning season in Amazonia. There were significantly elevated H, N, and Mn depositions during biomass burning.
