The 2010/2011 report was produced under the auspices of the national research programme „National Identity”. The job of the report is to survey the content of individual national belonging in the context of human development. The report particularly focuses on emigration issues, because human development is weakened by a reduction in the size of the country’s population. The fact that people are moving to other countries shows that there is an endless competition among identities, as well as a transformation of those identities. About adapting Conrad's prose to film

On the example of Apocalypse Now by F. F. Coppola, Heart of Darkness by N. Roeg, The Duellists by R. Scott, The Shadow Line by A. Wajda, and Secret Sharer by P. Fudakowski, I would like to show that Joseph Conrad’s prose is a cinematic trap for film directors. This being so, I attempt to answer the question as to why it is so difficult to make a film of something that is so cinematic, when it is being read, and why film adaptations that closely follow Conrad’s narratives are less Conradian than films which are “merely” inspired by Conrad’s works.

A ąuestionnaire on “the essence and goal of a novel” published in 1897 in “Kurier Niedzielny” is an interesting documentation of aesthetic views of writers and literary critics in the late 19th century. Representatives of all literary generations of that time - from pre-positivists through two generations of Polish positivists to Young Poland writers - speak in favor of moderate aestheticism protesting against bias in literaturę and defend the autonomy of an artist. Los ‘disparates espaciales’ como mecanismos de la comicidad en la comedia burlesca del Siglo de Oro.

Il lavoro analizza la dimensione dello ‘spazio drammatico’ nel genere della commedia burlesca del Siglo de Oro, fornendo numerosi esempi di quelli che vengono qui denominati ‘disparates espaciales’: non si tratta di costruzioni complesse, ma di piccoli ed incoerenti frammenti che arrivano a mescolare riferimenti a luoghi reali e conosciuti allo spettatore dell’epoca e allusioni a luoghi lontani, esotici o inesistenti. In questo modo, i ‘disparates espaciales’ contribuiscono alla ‘provocación de la risa’ e, insieme agli altri elementi caratteristici della commedia burlesca, collaborano alla costruzione del ‘mundo al revés’ tipico del genere.

Recognition of emotional facial expressions is a crucial skill for adaptive behavior. Past research suggests that at 5 to 7 months of age, infants look longer to an unfamiliar dynamic angry/happy face which emotionally matches a vocal expression. This suggests that they can match stimulations of distinct modalities on their emotional content. In the present study, olfaction-vision matching abilities were assessed across different age groups (3, 5 and 7 months) using dynamic expressive faces (happy vs. disgusted) and distinct hedonic odor contexts (pleasant, unpleasant and control) in a visual-preference paradigm. This is why we need a detailed reference framework relating the chemical and mineralogical compositions of modern microbialites to the physical and chemical parameters prevailing in the environments where they form.
